Reporting to the Head of Pre-Sales and working within the Financial and Commercial Document Automation  Pre-Sales Team. The FDA Pre-Sales Consultant will provide business and product consultancy in support of the sales process for the inbound and outbound Commercial Document Automation product set.

The role will predominantly cover pre-sales activities however there will be some requirement to engage post sales with client and partners especially where clients have no or little command of English. The role is field based primarily supporting sales in the DACH region. The candidate should live in or near the DACH region and must be fluent in German and English. The CDA Pre-Sales Consultant is Bottomline Technologies’ Subject Matter Expert providing:

The main responsibilities of the position are as follows:

  • Support the sales process and local account managers with thorough product knowledge and consultative expertise in the business process
  • Support channel partners, particularly in the DACH region, with product and implementation knowledge
  • Ability to understand customer business and process requirements and to demonstrate products in line with an understanding of the customer journey
  • Design, develop and deliver high quality proof of concept solutions that demonstrate understanding of customer requirements
  • Ensure our solutions are deliverable to meet requirements in a customer environment
  • Increase the value of opportunities by identifying process challenges and selling benefits of the solution through your product knowledge
  • Work with sales, product and services teams, and understand revenue recognition policies, to ensure opportunities sold can be delivered cleanly
  • Documentation of business process and functional requirements
  • Understanding of the development process to allow accurate provision of professional services estimates for sales teams
  • Contribute and influence the product roadmaps by working closely with Bottomline product teams in recognising potential product enhancement opportunities


Experience and Skills

The candidate must have:

  • It is essential that the candidate is fluent in German and English
  • A technical background of development and/or implementation in their career history
  • Ability to conduct business process analysis and requirement gathering exercises
  • Professional and polished abilities in presentation and demonstration to end users and C level audiences in seminar/conference environments
  • Willing and open approach of working within and outside the team to achieve results
  • Proven organisational skills and the ability to work accurately to tight deadlines
  • A desire to progress in a flourishing business
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Full clean driving licence


The candidate will have some or all of the following

  • A background in Commercial Document Automation (desirable)
  • Previous work with in the use of ERP/CRM/TMS systems in a finance or commercial environment (highly desirable)
  • Familiarity with the types of documents used in finance and commercial operation and knowledge of the roles these documents play. (highly desirable)
  • Any knowledge of AX/JDE/Sharepoint (highly desirable)
  • Use and configuration of Windows Server and Virtual Environments or similar (desirable)
  • Workflow solutions (desirable)
