The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and resilient Senior Analyst to support the insurance function of the business. The insurance product group is a key part of our customer journey and a critical part of our internal commercial metrics. It is responsible for transforming how BookingGo: sells insurance (car hire insurance, travel insurance, others TBC), captures, structures and delivers the vast quantities of data we use to understand our customers; and integrates with underwriters, claims systems and other partners and their data.

In this role, you will be directly involved in enabling business improvements through your own insights / observations.

As well as identifying opportunities, you will demonstrate your ability to recommend specific ones – and provide the analytical evidence to back up your recommendations.

Where evidence & reporting is limited, you will recommend improvements based on experience, research & observations.

The role will involve ownership of metrics, analytical & reporting improvements & influencing product and commercial strategy.



Remit includes

  • Eliciting value from both commercial and consumer / behavioural analysis. 

  • Working with developers to log new data points to enhance insight into product performance

  • Automating processes to efficiently manage reporting requirements, and ensure timeliness of information

  • Linking together disparate data sources to drive insight

  • Measuring impact of insurance performance and linking this to car performance.

  • Support trading investigations by building alerting on key metrics

  • Ensure we have commercial and qualitative analysis on product performance

  • Support pricing strategy through management of price testing.

  • Work with product owners on building budgeted performance for relevant products

  • Create robust tracking processes to prove value that product is driving and report ROI from teams.

  • Support hypothesis investigation that guides product development, using varied analytical techniques.

  • You will have the ability to work with imperfect data sources and ambiguity whilst able to provide recommendations and elicit value through applying clear, credible assumptions.

 

Essential skills

  • Ability to write complex queries to extract, manipulate and analyse disparate data sources.

  • Solid experience of working with Python, SQL, R & Impala (minimum of 2).

  • Strong awareness of statistical techniques and applications.

  • Strong analytical skills with commercial acumen, with the ability to identify opportunities & threats.

  • Able to balance the need for accuracy and efficiency.

  • Proven experience (minimum 2years) in leading and developing a team.

  • Able to manage expectations and delivery in a high pressure environment with a multitude of stakeholders.

  • Experience of multivariate testing and other testing methodologies (e.g. A/B/N).

  • You are naturally curious and regularly question the status quo.

  • You are a very strong communicator especially when clarifying requirements and managing expectations with non-technical and less data-savvy colleagues

  • Leads by example.

  • Minimum of 3 years experience of working in a multichannel, online business in an analytical function.

 

Desirable Skills

  • Able to critique, coach, guide delivery in range of analytics technologies and techniques

  • Awareness of the insurance industry
