2023 NOGA MEDIA & COMMUNICATIONS INTERN USGA P.J. BOATWRIGHT JR. INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
ABOUT THE NORTHERN OHIO GOLF ASSOCIATION (NOGA): In 2023, the NOGA will serve as the region’s governing body for amateur golf throughout 35 counties across all of Northern Ohio and parts of Southeast Michigan. Founded in 1917, the NOGA is dedicated to promoting the game and serving its expanded membership of 171 clubs and approximately 27,000 individual golfers. The NOGA administers approximately 37 days of competition each year, which includes men’s and women’s one-day tournaments, the Northeast Ohio Amateur Championship, and USGA Championship qualifying.
LOCATION OF INTERNSHIP: NOGA headquarters located in North Olmsted (a west side suburb of Cleveland), with frequent travel across the Northern Ohio region.
TERM OF INTERNSHIP: Three (3) months (start and end date are flexible)
RESPONSIBILITIES: This position is responsible for creating, maintaining, and distributing print and digital content for all departments of the NOGA. This includes being responsible for a large amount of content creation (e.g. tournament recaps, social media, etc.), photography and video, and assisting in marketing and promotion of content for NOGA Championships, USGA Qualifiers, and NOGA member publications.
QUALIFICATIONS
Golf background or strong interest in golf
Bachelor’s Degree (completed or in progress) with background in journalism, communications, graphic design, public relations, or related field.
Willingness to work in fast pace and team-oriented structure
Willingness to live in Greater Cleveland area and travel throughout the Northern Ohio region
Able to work outside in extreme weather and temperatures with direct sun exposure
Excellent communications and public relations skills
Experience in photography, social media, and related programs
A person with a strong work ethic that is self-motivated
Strong computer skills, including MS Office and Internet
BENEFITS
$2,000 per month (hourly employee), based on 40-hour work week
NOGA staff apparel and uniforms

ABOUT THE P.J. BOATWRIGHT, JR. INTERNSHIP PROGRAM: The P. J. Boatwright, Jr. Internship Program was created in 1991 by the USGA to inspire and provide opportunities for qualified individuals interested in a career in golf administration with a particular focus on attracting and developing a diverse pipeline of future leaders, while supporting traditional AGAs that administer USGA core functions.
