Event Operations Internship (6 months)


The Primary Role of the Event Operations Intern is to assist in the development, promotion, coordination,
and execution of Miami Valley Golf Events throughout our service area in the West Central Region of 
Ohio. 


During this April Through October Internship many of these events will be hosted by our Association 
Member Clubs. Most will be Golf Tournaments and Championships, however, there will be educational 
seminars scattered throughout the early months of the Internship.
Our typical inventory for events includes Monday Shotguns for Ladies and Older Men. Area 
Championships for different age and gender divisions as well as USGA qualifiers for National 
Championships. We begin and end our season with collegiate and high school invitationals and 
qualifiers. 


This experience is expected to introduce you to all facets of event management to include but not limited 
to the development and marking of: Penalty Areas, Abnormal Ground Conditions, Out of Bound 
Hole Locations and Tee Placements. This experience will also develop interpersonal skills through 
regular engagement with Spectators, Volunteers and Competitors. 

Qualifications 

Applicant must share our passion for continual improvement, lifetime learning and community building. 
Have a high interest in golf administration with strong verbal and written communication skills. Being
highly organized and a background in the game of golf and rules of golf knowledge is also beneficial. Not 
eligible for consideration are MVGA or USGA employees, officials, their relatives, or past grant 
recipients. 

Hours

Full-time, based on Event Schedules with flexibility for school and playing schedules. Candidates should 
occasionally be prepared to work long hours during the season with early morning and late evening 
hours.


Transportation and Housing 


Intern must arrange for housing in the Dayton, OH area and provide own automotive transportation. 
Intern will be reimbursed for all related expenses when traveling on Association business and will be 
reimbursed for the use of personal automobile while on official business.


Compensation


This is a paid internship with the position with an opening hourly wage starting at $17.50 per hour.
