Job Description

 

We are seeking a VP, Corporate Controller to own the global accounting function and scale it with the growth of the Company.  You will be the key driver and enabler in the development of people, process and technology ensuring data is readily available for management decision making, legal compliance, management and external reporting.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in a fast growth corporate environment, have built organizations to scale for rapid growth, and have a history of experience that includes transitioning from private to public company requirements (including the IPO process), time in public environments, and public accounting.  The candidate is not only a strategic thinker who can develop a plan to build a world class public company Accounting organization but also has the attention to detail and leadership ability to drive change and execute the plan.  Prior experience with SaaS or Software is required and knowledge of martech or ecommerce is a bonus.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, plan and execute all accounting processes and activities across the organization, to ensure compliance with GAAP, SEC regulations, statutory guidelines, and internal financial policies
  • Drive external reporting for investors, including presentations to the Audit Committee and the Board of Directors
  • Provide leadership required to grow and strengthen the global Accounting team, with a commitment to recruiting, training and mentoring
  • Build the technical infrastructure and control environment to support the company’s hyper-growth and prepare the company for an IPO and SOX compliance
  • Leverage technology to build scalable/sustainable processes to create efficiencies, streamline accounting operations and improve employee experience
  • Establish strong relationships with cross-functional peers and lead the team to be the “go to” accounting resource in the Company
  • Continually evaluate and optimize accounting processes relative to industry best practices, striving to deliver process automation, improved accuracy and higher customer service
  • Develop, enhance, implement and enforce accounting policies and procedures that will improve the overall operation and reduce risks of the business
  • Manage the Company’s global tax structure, intercompany agreements and compliance
  • Provide financial guidance on technical accounting and financial reporting issues
  • Support the executive team in driving best practices across the company related to corporate governance, ethical standards and sustainable business practices
  • Responsible for annual GAAP and statutory audits for all domestic and international subsidiaries
  • Provide accounting expertise on M&A transactions from pre-acquisition due diligence through post-acquisition integration

 

Requirements:

 

  • 12 years progressively responsible accounting and finance experience, of which a minimum of 4 years must be in software (preferably SaaS) industry and a minimum 5 years in a leadership position managing teams of people with diverse skill sets
  • Experience with a Big 4 or other national accounting firm required
  • Experience in both growth-stage and public companies required
  • Must be a proven “hands on”, solution oriented and effective leader who garners trust and loyalty from team members
  • Execution oriented with a proven ability and desire to work effectively, delivering accurate results under tight deadlines in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, dynamic environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to confidently and effectively communicate to all employee levels within the culturally and geographically diverse Company
  • Demonstrated proficiency in ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial statements
  • Experience with setting up and operating accounting processes for foreign subsidiaries
  • Experience with revenue recognition in a recurring revenue and/or consumption based business model preferred
  • Experience in financing and M&A transaction work preferred
  • Technology and systems savvy with Netsuite experience preferred
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business is required
  • CPA is required, active status and current on ASC 606 & 842 preferred
