BlockFi is looking for a Security Architect, Product to join our growing team!

About Your Team

At BlockFi, our Security Team works across the entire spectrum of technologies and products that power our business, protecting over $3B in value. This role is full-time remote, even after COVID. This is a unique role as part of the security team focused on building deep partnership with our core product engineering teams and enabling them to identify, build, and implement scalable security solutions. This role will be focused on in-house security initiatives impacting thousands of daily users that are continuing to rapidly scale. The Security Team is largely remote, working across timezones and prides itself on being solutions-focused. While facing incredibly complex threats in an ever-change security landscape, BlockFi has continued to thrive and needs the right tools built by passionate and energetic people.

Your Mission:

As an Architect in the Security Team,  you’ll be a part of and help lead initiatives that directly impact work across our core business functions in all business lines. Much of what we need needs to be built and much of what we have needs to be refined. You will be the go-to person navigating complex technical security problems, ultimately building and leading some of the firm’s most important security tools. The ability to cultivate a solid working relationship with our core product engineering team and others including compliance and legal is a must. 

  • Proven, hands-on technical experience building designing and building security solutions in hyper growth companies or business units
  • History of increasingly strategic and technical roles responsible day-to-day technical execution of security technologies and implementation
  • Experience in security operations, engineering, architecture, or similar in large retailers, financial services, healthcare or complementary industries is critical
  • Equally comfortable mapping processes to identifying automation and security/fraud risk reduction opportunities as providing strategic consultation to senior management while distilling highly complex problems into easily understood, business-focused risks
  • Partnering with business stakeholders to truly understand what and how the company runs and proactively identifying areas where security tools can be implemented or existing tools enhanced to minimize business risk, and ideally, drive business value
  • Experience managing globally distributed security and engineerings projects is crucial for long-term success in this role
  • Knowledge of cryptocurrencies, financial services, or blockchain technology are a plus - if you don’t have this, don’t worry, we can teach you if you’re willing to learn

Your Expertise:

  • Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure, implementation of security projects, and security engineering best practices as well as industry standards such as ISO and NIST
  • Proven experience leading technical decisions and understanding their impact on users - both internal and external
  • Demonstrated ability to continuously learn, work independently, and make decisions with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work effectively in teams of technical and non-technical individuals, including peers in non-technical departments (i.e legal)
  • Have extreme attention to detail without sacrificing execution rigor
  • Bias towards action and own tasks end-to-end
  • Work through hurdles and tactfully navigate the organization driving towards the objective
  • Be a doer that can get things done and unblock tasks while building deep organizational relationships along the way
  • Be thoughtful and analytical - ask why and challenge preconceived notions
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Own the company’s problems like they are your own
  • Obsessive drive and passion for security and building products people use
