Overview

We are seeking a Staff Creative Technologist to join the Vibe team at Blitz where you will be instrumental in shaping a new platform that enables users to create mods for their favorite games through advanced AI technology and user-friendly tools. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a startup environment, enjoys being hands-on from the start, and can balance rapid development with scalable, thoughtful solutions.

You will be closely collaborating with amazing Product and Engineering teams to consistently deliver efficient and intuitive solutions that bring immense value to our community of gamers.

This position requires all hires to be onsite Monday through Thursday out of our Los Angeles (Playa Vista) office, with the option to WFH on Friday.

What You'll Do

  • 3D Editor Development: Take the lead in developing and enhancing our web-based 3D editor, focusing on features that improve user interaction and model manipulation capabilities, as well as applying your extensive knowledge of 3D rendering to enable advanced AI technology and real-time collaboration.
  • Frontend Architecture: Utilize your expertise in React and React Three Fiber to architect and develop a robust UI that integrates seamlessly with our 3D capabilities and backend services, ensuring a smooth and responsive experience for our users.
  • Innovate: Actively engage in staying ahead of the curve by researching and adopting cutting-edge tools and techniques in 3D graphics and web-based applications. Commit to continuous learning and innovation, ensuring our tech stack and methods remain at the forefront of the industry, thereby enhancing our platform's capabilities while maintaining a competitive edge.

What It Takes

  • 6+ years of specialized experience in building 3D graphics tools, with extensive knowledge of web-based frameworks such as Three.js (WebGL / WebGPU) and React Three Fiber.
  • Deep technical expertise using advanced 3D techniques, including physically based shading (PBR), raycasting with bounding volume hierarchies (BVH), projective texture mapping, and writing custom fragment and vertex shaders.
  • Proficiency in modern JavaScript frameworks, particularly React, is essential, along with a solid understanding of state management practices and working with RESTful APIs.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing your work in 3D graphics and modern web applications.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams

Nice To Have

  • A keen interest in generative AI and its applications.
  • Experience with 3D modeling software or popular game engines (Blender, Unity3D, Unreal Engine etc.)
  • Knowledge of real-time data streaming and state synchronization.
  • Previous involvement in the video game industry or an early stage startup.
