Overview

We are looking for a new member to join our accounting team in a fast-paced and exciting startup environment. In this position, you will partner with our Finance and Operations teams to scale our processes and organization to support our continued growth. This is a high impact role with significant accountability. You will play a key role in implementing initiatives including managing third-party vendors, controls, and new systems. This position requires you to be on-site Mondays-Thursdays in our Playa Vista office.

What You’ll Do

  • Establish, implement and enforce financial and reporting policies and standards in compliance with US GAAP and FASB and the requirements of other applicable regulatory bodies for multiple entities.
  • Perform customer payment, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and expense tasks
  • Perform general ledger account reconciliations, verify accuracy of data, and report, identify, and correct errors made by both internal and external personnel
  • Perform and supervise timely month-end, quarter-end, year-end financial close tasks as assigned including preparation and review of general ledger entries, analysis and completion of corporate balance sheet and P&L reports, balance sheet account reconciliations, accruals, and overall maintenance of all operational management accounts
  • Review period close submissions and assist in month/quarter/year end reporting packages
  • Assist in providing schedules and commentary reports with respect to operating maintenance account results and variances, and with the production of working capital, cash-flow reports.
  • Maintain and update records and reports for profit and loss, taxes, liabilities, and assets
  • Prepare special financial reports as requested by management by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends
  • Review the processing of monthly customer claims transactions and payments to ensure completeness and accuracy of claims expense in accordance with GAAP and compliance to internal policies 
  • Responsible for researching, registering and compliance for all federal, state and local tax requirements.
  • Undertake special projects and/or general management assignments as requested

What It Takes To Be Successful

  • 4+ years of relevant experience in accounting/finance roles 
  • BA/BS degree in Accounting or strong combination of education and experience required
  • Strong personal integrity and the highest ethical standards
  • Detail-oriented and able to juggle many tasks at once
  • High proficiency with spreadsheets and building financial models
  • CPA a plus
  • NetSuite experience a plus
