Legal Lead
The role
The Legal Lead is a vital role within the Blenheim Chalcot portfolio. You will gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced and progressive environment, where you will support us in building our next generation of GenAI enabled tech businesses.
Key Responsibilities:
Corporate Law and Compliance:
- Provide legal support on corporate governance and other corporate transactions.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents, including MSAs, SOWs, NDAs, IDTAs and vendor agreements.
- Manage Board compliances and oversee company secretarial responsibilities.
Employment Law:
- Advise on employment-related legal matters, including drafting employment contracts, handling employee disputes, and assisting HR with compliance on PF, labor laws, and employee grievances.
- Guide internal teams on policy and procedural changes based on updates in labor laws.
Risk Management:
- Identify, assess, and mitigate legal risks across the organization, ensuring adherence to corporate policies and regulatory standards.
- Conduct risk assessments and provide recommendations to minimize potential organizational risks.
- Support ISO audits, PCI DSS certification, and other regulatory audits in collaboration with the service teams.
Contract Drafting and Management:
- Lead contract negotiation, drafting, and review processes, ensuring compliance with the Indian Contract Act and other relevant regulations.
- Interpret contract terms and conditions accurately and ensure that agreements align with organizational policies and legal standards.
- Manage the complete contract lifecycle, from initiation to renewal and termination, for vendors, partners, and other service providers.
- Provide insights into contract clauses, enforceability and implications to ensure organizational protection and compliance.
Legal Research and Advisory:
- Stay informed on changes in laws and regulations, particularly in corporate, employment, and contract laws and assess their impact on the organization.
- Provide strategic legal advice to management on matters affecting the organization, enabling informed decision-making.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with HR, Finance and other departments to resolve legal issues, implement compliance measures, and drive risk management initiatives.
- Support the development and delivery of legal training and awareness programs to improve legal literacy across the organization.
Key Qualifications:
- LLB degree from a reputable institution or a Certified Company Secretary.
- 5-6 years of experience in Corporate Law, Employment Law, and Contract Law, with a strong foundation in the Indian Contract Act.
- In-depth knowledge of corporate, labor, compliance, and contract regulations in India.
- Proven expertise in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of contracts.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess legal risks and provide sound recommendations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a collaborative approach to cross-functional work.
About you
We are looking for a skilled and proactive Legal Associate with 5-6 years of experience in Corporate Law, Employment Law and Contract Law, with a solid understanding of the Indian Contract Act. This role requires a strong grasp of organizational risk management and the ability to ensure comprehensive legal oversight across multiple domains. The ideal candidate will support legal and compliance efforts across the organization, advising on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and minimizing legal risks.
