Heme is a patient-centric platform that allows patients and health providers to store, analyse, search and securely share their personal health information, including medical imaging and patient-generated data.

The role

The DevOps Engineer is a vital role within the Blenheim Chalcot portfolio HemeHealth. As a member of our development team, you will have direct input into the development of our product. Candidates must have a positive ‘can-do’ attitude, an insatiable desire to learn and a passion to develop the best products in the world. You will gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced and progressive environment, where you will support us in building our next generation of GenAI enabled tech businesses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cloud Infrastructure Management:
    • Design, deploy, and manage scalable and highly available cloud infrastructure on platforms such as AWS or Google Cloud.
    • Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
    • Optimize and monitor cloud resources for performance, cost, and security.
  • Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD):
    • Implement and enhance CI/CD pipelines to automate the build, test, and deployment processes.
    • Work closely with development teams to integrate CI/CD best practices into the software development lifecycle.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to build failures, deployment errors, and pipeline efficiency.
  • Containerization and Orchestration:
    • Implement and manage containerization solutions such as Docker.
    • Orchestrate containerized applications using Kubernetes or other container orchestration tools.
    • Ensure scalability, reliability, and security of containerized environments.
  • Monitoring and Logging:
    • Set up and maintain monitoring and logging systems for applications and infrastructure.
    • Respond to and resolve incidents based on alerts and logs.
    • Continuously improve monitoring and logging capabilities to enhance system reliability.
  • Security and Compliance:
    • Implement security best practices for cloud environments and applications.
    • Perform regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
    • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, system administrators, and network engineers.
    • Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to convey technical information and project updates.
    • Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning and retrospectives.

About you

The ideal candidate will have a track-record in delivering results in a fast-moving business and hence be comfortable with change and uncertainty. Excellent stakeholder management experience is essential to being successful in this role.

Must have-

  • 5-6 years of hands-on experience in a DevOps role.
  • Proficiency with AWS technologies including but not limited to EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, VPC Peering, Lightsail.
  • Experience in managing cloud-based infrastructure on platforms such as AWS or GCP.
  • Hands-on experience with writing Dockerfiles, managing and deploying Docker containers.
  • Proven track record of developing automation using tools such as Ansible, Chef, and Terraform.
  • Working knowledge of web server management and configuration, including HAProxy, Nginx, Traefik etc
  • Highly skilled in building, optimizing, hardening, and troubleshooting CentOS/Debian/RHEL Linux operating systems.
  • Knowledge of how to build secure, performant, reliable, and durable systems/architecture.
  • Familiarity with code repository best practices using Git, Github, and workflows such as “Git Flow”.
  • Experience with Continuous Integration tools like Jenkins, Github Actions, Sonar, Artifactory.
  • DevSecOps: Strong background in DevSecOps to ensure the secure handling of data throughout the CI/CD pipeline.
  • Security-minded with a keen interest in protecting systems and infrastructure.
    Familiarity with cloud-based DNS and load balancing strategies.
  • Experience in monitoring production services using tools like Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana and Appdynamics

Nice to haves-

  • Deploying containers on Kubernetes (EKS) along with Istio.
  • Familiarity with Cloud native tools and technologies

Qualifications-

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of any of the cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) and associated services.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI).
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and oral; good interpersonal and presentation skills
