Position Summary 

Our company is seeking an experienced Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead our technological transformation in the UK mortgage industry. As a key member of our executive team, you will play a pivotal role in managing disruption, driving technological change, and ensuring our company remains at the forefront of innovation within our industry. 

Reporting directly to our CEO and based in Mumbai, you will lead a dedicated technical team and must have a strategic mindset, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for staying at the forefront of technology trends. As our first technology go-to expert, you will play an integral role in setting the company’s strategic direction, development and future growth.  

In this position, you will oversee our overall technology development and technology utilization plan and manage all information technology resources of our company.  You will also lead the overall research and development efforts of the company, including driving forward our GenAI business services. You will have a creative mindset for problem solving, but also be expected to stay updated on the latest technological trends and best industry practices. Success in this role will be determined by identifying and incorporating technologies necessary to drive business growth and profitability.

Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with the executive team to set business objectives and align technology strategy with company goals 
  • Oversee all aspects of technology within the organization, including infrastructure, innovation, and security, ensuring they are up-to-date and fit for purpose 
  • Implement technology plans, provide direction on emerging technologies, and design technology standards 
  • Manage third-party technology suppliers and evaluate potential tech partners 
  • Ensure technology projects are delivered and to budget and schedule 
  • Create reports and presentations on the company's overall technology status for stakeholders 
  • Build and lead a world-class engineering team 
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technology trends and industry best practices 
  • Research, identify and incorporate technologies necessary to drive business growth and profitability 
  • Make company-wide decisions regarding technology strategy, architecture, and resources 
  • Set technology OKRs, conduct employee reviews and build individual development plans 
  • Act as a mentor to team members, promoting innovation and creativity 
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration within the engineering team and with other departments 
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce policies related to technology infrastructure and data protection 

Must Have: 

  • Strong leadership, analytical, and organizational skills 
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills 
  • Hands-on experience with complex project management 
  • Outstanding negotiation and supplier management skills 
  • Proactive problem solver 
  • Keen attention to detail 
  • Minimum 10 years of software engineering or IT experience, with at least 5 years in leadership and management roles. 
  • Advanced technological skill set and a demonstrated history within a technology-driven industry 
  • In-depth knowledge of technical systems architecture, design, and development. 
  • Broad knowledge of software engineering, including languages, frameworks, and industry trends. 
  • Proven track record of leading complex technology initiatives and integrating teams across multiple business units 

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies relevant to the organization's sector.
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing technology landscapes and adopt agile methodologies.
  • Willingness to experiment with new technologies and methodologies to drive continuous improvement.

Qualification:

  • Advanced degree in a relevant technical field or business administration.
