This is an in-person role based in our Brooklyn, NY office and reports directly to the Senior Global Learning & Organizational Development Manager on the People Team. What You’ll Own:

  • Assess skills gaps and create learning based interventions to improve performance across all Cafe roles with support from Learning & Organizational Development and Training Managers.
  • Maintain and optimize our Learning Management System (LMS) to ensure employees have the knowledge and resources to excel in their roles, including designing content aligned with cognitive science and adult learning principles, managing learner enrollments, cleaning user data, and executing reporting.
  • Partner with managers and the training team to drive participation & completion in the LMS. Monitor completion of modules and attempts needed to pass assessments and reactively adjust content or approaches to ensure maximum transfer of knowledge into practice.
  • Design job aids and training collateral for employees to support skill and knowledge retention with subject matter expert input (such as but not limited to: onboarding materials, training guides, cheat sheets, flip cards, task lists, or any other skills/brand based physical or digital assets).
  • Consider ways to improve the overall learning experience with leadership support (such as introducing gamification, reward systems and community elements).
  • Manage all formal HQ-to-Field communication channels. This includes setting up a cadence and process to collect information from each department, formatting, editing, designing and disseminating the packaged communication to relevant audiences.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years in learning & development, instructional design, instructional content creation or HR experience with robust training and development responsibilities
  • Experience designing learning programs and collateral for retail, food and beverage or other service based industry
  • Understanding of adult learning theory, cognitive or behavioral psychology
  • Proficient in backend of learning management systems with the ability to maximize their functionality 
  • Proven ability to develop frameworks that help people learn, process, retain and deploy information
  • Comfortable with continuous improvement and creating solid feedback loops between the L&D team, Training and the learner
  • Project management and organizational skills for multiple projects running concurrently required
  • Excellent communication skills visual, written and verbal
  • Experience working cross functionally with multiple levels of stakeholders
  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
  • Strong time management, attention to detail, and problem solving skills
  • Experience with digital asset managers and content creation software (Canva, Adobe, Figma etc.)

Benefits:

  • $70,000 - $85,000 annual base salary
    • Blank Street, in good faith, believes that the posted salary range is accurate for this role in New York City at the time of posting. Our salaries are rooted in the desire to pay competitively relative to our organization size and industry, reflecting just one part of the total compensation package. Additional components include equity, healthcare benefits, paid time off and various work perks (commuter benefits, free coffee). Details will be discussed during the interview process. Blank Street may pay more or less than the posted range based on factors such as relevant experience and skills, qualifications and location, among others. This range may be modified in the future.
