Role: Full Stack Engineer
Description: As a Senior Software Engineer at Blackthorn, you will be part of an elite team, developing solutions that solve our most critical business priorities. You will work closely with various departments to understand our customers' most pressing needs and provide technical expertise to make products that delight our customers. You are a self-starter with an ownership mentality, who can understand and execute new concepts quickly.
Base: $70,000 - $85,000 USD
What you'll do
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, including issues that have been highly escalated and have high visibility across multiple departments, ensuring system reliability, performance, and security.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional scrum teams and across the larger company
- Improve architecture and code quality across Blackthorn’s apps
- Design & develop solutions on complex architecture, including both front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Angular), back-end development (Node.js, relational and non-relational database, REST APIs)
- Demonstrate best practices in everything you do, including meaningful test coverage and striving to ensure maintainability
- Build strong relationships with other departments and act as a point of contact for engineering
- Provide detailed follow-up across departments about progress on customer issues
- Provide technical leadership and mentor junior team members, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
What we look for
- 7+ years experience in back-end skills with server-side languages and frameworks including designing and implementing REST APIs, and working with Node.js. A preference for experience with NestJS, Python
- 5+ years Typescript experience required
- 5+ years experience with front-end technologies including building responsive and intuitive applications using JavaScript frameworks such as React or Angular, HTML, and CSS.
- 3+ years database experience. Both SQL and NoSQL is second nature to you, and you are comfortable with both relational and NoSQL databases such as Postgres, MongoDB
- 3+ years with command-line scripting, network protocols, and encryption and secure exchange of data
- Experience modeling and mentoring other engineers in good design patterns, secure coding, and documentation best practices
- Git, unit and integration testing, and linting
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (Docker, CI/CD pipelines) preferred
- Experience in the AWS cloud platform is preferred
- Excellent English written and oral communication
