The Role

A compliance role responsible for ensuring that BitMEX proactively complies with regulatory requirements in the jurisdictions in which it provides services, and actively responds to emerging trends and regulatory change. The BitMEX compliance program aims to lead the virtual asset industry, and the successful candidate will play a key role in developing and maturing the program to this vision.

Responsibilities

  • Working within a team of regulatory compliance professionals, you will provide one or more of the following:
    • Track regulatory changes in conjunction with Legal and update / advise upon changes to policies and control frameworks
    • Build and maintain business-facing internal Intranet pages providing guidelines on permitted jurisdictional activity and restrictions
    • Manage the end-to-end process of license applications in target jurisdictions, and maintain a centralised licensing collateral repository for license applications
    • Build, maintain, and monitor appropriate group-level policy and control frameworks
    • Build and maintain a group-wide compliance training programme
    • Provide advisory services on product development, including compliance aspects regards product design, as well as marketing and solicitation
    • Track and oversee material customer complaints in conjunction with the Legal team

Qualifications

  • Legal background with solid knowledge of relevant financial services regulations in major capital markets
  • Demonstrable experience in:
    • Working within a regulated environment
    • Working with matrix and cross-functional teams
    • Utilising a pragmatic approach for highest quality, right-fit compliance outcomes
    • Senior-level internal and external stakeholder management (such as regulators and external counsel)
  • Able to operate under own initiative
  • Outstanding written and spoken English
  • Demonstrable interest in virtual asset financial services
  • Desirable:
    • Technology background, particularly compliance technology
    • Compliance qualifications (e.g. ICA Diploma / ACAMS)
    • Experience in any of the following:
      • Tracking regulatory change across multiple jurisdictions
      • Preparation of business guidance in line with regulatory requirements
      • Developing and managing high quality policies and controls
      • Designing and delivering compliance training
      • Obtaining regulatory license applications in one or more jurisdictions
      • Technology background, particularly compliance technology
      • Compliance qualifications (e.g. ICA Diploma / ACAMS)
