Summary/Objective

The Scientist I, Antibody Development will provide technical contributions to new antibody development, including custom antibody projects. The Scientist I, Antibody Development supports existing product offerings through ongoing raw material supply for operations and contributes to continuous process improvements within the existing Quality System. The Scientist I, Antibody Development keeps abreast of current methodologies and developments within the field of antibody development and provides scientific expertise in integrating new antibody technology for Biocare and its customers.

Essential Functions

  • Identify new targets with potential market value for clinical diagnosis by immunohistochemistry.
  • Strategic identification of reputable clones available in the market.
  • Introduce antibodies for proof of concept testing.
  • Screen and clone licensed antibody/hybridoma upon passing in-house testing.
  • Design antigen according to bioinformatics and biochemistry.
  • Research target expression profile for antibody screening.
  • Over-see/perform antigen preparation, immunization, anti-sera screening, cell fusion, cloning, characterization, antibody production and purification.
  • Design study control and draft related SOPs to meet ISO requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned by Management.

Competencies

  • Advanced degree (Ph.D. and/or M.D.) in the field of immunology, oncology, and/or pathology.
  • One to five (1-5) years industrial and academic post-doctoral education experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of immunology, oncology, and pathology.
  • Familiarity with the processes and techniques of antibody development and application as a diagnostic tool.
  • Must be able to perform or learn IHC, ISH, and fluorescent procedures.
  • Participate in technical lectures, workshops, meetings, publications, and seminars as needed.
  • High level of verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to write clear and concise documentation and effective data presentation.
  • Good understanding of product development in GMP and ISO environments.

Compensation Range

  • $115,000 - $125,000  annual

Expected Hours of Work

  • 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday – Friday (unless otherwise determined by departmental needs that may include earlier or later starting and ending hours. ). This position may require extended weekday or weekend hours depending on business needs.
