betterworks is searching for a talented Senior HR Manager to join our growing team.  As the Senior HR Manager, you will manage many of the day to day HR activities through versatility and being comfortable with operating across most HR focus areas.  As a direct report to the CHRO, this role is well suited for an agile, adaptive, “roll up the sleeves” HR professional. You are passionate about jumping into a variety of activities, have a growth mindset and love taking on new challenges.  You are excited about helping a company scale using your HR expertise, data analysis and systems knowledge. 

Responsibilities

  • Own much of the People Ops function with direct responsibility for end-to-end HR Service Delivery, HR Data and Records, Immigration, Employee Relations, HR Compliance, and HR People Analytics and Reporting
  • Manage state and federal compliance
  • Collaborate with Payroll regarding time and attendance 
  • Use a creative approach to learning and development to drive a culture of development
  • Bring thought leadership and innovation to the delivery of HR services throughout the employee life cycle
  • Manage and maintain our systems and processes
  • Work with leaders on all compensation items

Compliance and HR Policy Responsibilities:

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to HR, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance, especially with respect to all applicable federal, state and local labor laws, e.g., NLRA, EEO, FMLA, ADA, DOL, FLSA, and similar regulatory requirements
  • Provide compliance support, including staying updated on compliance changes (e.g. laws, ordinances, policies, procedures); reviewing ACA compliance tracking; reviewing and implementing internal policies, practices, and procedures consistently across the staff; and, updating, improving and maintaining documentation to ensure compliance with applicable laws and obligations
  • HR Lead on all HR work related to Internal Audits in partnership with Legal Operations and Data Security
  • Own all compliance policy related work including training compliance requirements, employee handbook, and other related as needed
  • Opportunity to evaluate and rollout updated employee handbook 

HR Data, Records and Analytics Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and manage master data, all employee records and related documentation, and conduct regular audits of files
  • Manage record keeping for personnel folders for all employees, ensuring that files are complete, accurate, and current
  • Ensure employee data entry and data transactions are completed accurately and quality controls are in place and followed
  • Responsible for all onboarding/offboarding/exit and other employee change data throughout employee lifecycle
  • Manage HR Reporting and Dashboard, compiling and delivering our regular People Dashboard.
  • Own and execute the creation and filing of key agreements (contracts and other documentation)

Compensation and Benefits Responsibilities:

  • Support compensation process including preparing compensation files for manager evaluation, engaging in compensation discussions with leaders
  • Manage equity program, liaise with internal and external contacts to maintain all program data and administer program with attention to accuracy
  • Manage salary survey data, create compensation tables and serve as internal expert on aspects of compensation, able to work with salary survey data and make recommendations consistent with our compensation philosophy
  • Monitor external compensation and benefit trends as appropriate to ensure we are offering equitable compensation programs and packages
  • Support employee benefits administration in partnership with our vendor, includes assisting in resolution of escalated benefits and payroll issues
  • Own benefits enrollments and yearly benefits process

Trusted Business Partnership Responsibilities:

  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding policies and procedures
  • Coach management on Employee Relations related issues
  • Leveling roles and comp analysis

Process Improvement Responsibilities:

  • Review existing systems and processes and develop and implement new changes to improve and streamline existing people operations
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends and make recommendations for improvement of organization’s policies, procedures and practices
  • Opportunity to implement an HRIS and evaluate brokerage firms

Our ideal candidate:

  • A minimum of 10 years of direct HR experience, direct HRBP experience is a plus
  • Self-motivated, delivers with excellence while requiring little direct management and oversight
  • Proven record of data analysis, metrics and reporting
  • Strong understanding of local, state and federal employment laws  
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience/expertise in compensation and benefits
  • Clear attention to detail and proven to have high levels of accuracy
  • Highly flexible, adaptive, with a problem-solving orientation
  • Resilient to change and able to drive to creative solutions
  • Respectful of different work styles and approaches
  • Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with discretion
  • Ability to engage, inspire and influence people
  • Ability to develop clear, actionable steps and manage projects
  • Knowledgeable about HR practices and employment law
  • Understanding of HR, Payroll, and general business process
  • Preferred experience with global, fast-growing software organizations
  • Proficiency with Google Applications, MS Office applications, and reporting and data analysis

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
