As a Senior Data Platform Engineer at BetterUp, you will have the opportunity to leverage your expertise, passion, and drive to craft robust, scalable data systems which will directly impact the lives and well being of thousands of workers across the world. As a Data Engineer at BetterUp, you will be joining a small team responsible for the data systems that power everything from operational efficiency of the business, to personalized product experiences, to cutting-edge behavioral research and organizational analytics. You will be responsible for the end-to-end implementation of the data stack from collection to reporting, with a focus on infrastructure and technical processes. You will be directly responsible for working with stakeholders around the business to ensure their data needs are met, define data strategies, implement data systems, and help infuse data into transformational experiences. 

You will be responsible for deeply understanding data problems, crafting a technical strategy to address those problems, then delivering high-quality technical solutions which are fit for today, and ready for tomorrow. Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Architect: Design, assemble, and maintain large, complex datasets to deliver business insights and power product experiences.
  • Data Advocate: Promote data-driven decision-making and develop cross-functional data-oriented solutions.
  • Data Protector: Build reliable, scalable data infrastructure with advanced privacy and security techniques to safeguard data.
  • Data Engineer: Manage the end-to-end data stack, including event collection, data governance, data integrations, and modeling.
  • Data Custodian: Ensure data consistency and quality through metrics, documentation, processes, data testing, and training.

If you have some or all of the following please apply:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience, including experience in a startup environment.
  • Proficiency with OLAP databases (e.g., Snowflake, Big Query, Redshift).
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL and experience with modern SQL orchestrators like dbt.
  • Hands-on experience developing data pipelines using tools such as Airflow, AWS Step Functions, Dagster, Prefect,Stitch Data, Fivetran and Airbyte.
  • Experience with event streams and stream processing technologies (e.g., Kafka, Spark, Databricks, Segment).
  • Experience in decoupling transactional or source systems from business intelligence reporting (e.g., dimensional modeling).
  • Proficiency in Python for creating high-quality, fast workflows and web servers.
  • Familiarity with modern business intelligence and product reporting tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Superset, and Periscope).
  • Deep experience in data engineering across industries and domains.
  • Experience working with high performance full-stack web developers is a plus.

At BetterUp, we compensate our employees fairly for their work. Base salary is determined by job-related experience, education/training, residence location, as well as market indicators. The range below is representative of base salary only and does not include equity, sales bonus plans (when applicable) and benefits. This range may be modified in the future.

The base salary range for this role is $148,784 – $223,150.
