Job Title: Web Developer
Location: This position is FULL TIME ONSITE in Irvine, CA.
Employment Type: Full-time
Pay Range: $100,000-130,000 per year based on experience, qualifications, and skillset.

 

Position Overview:

As a Web Developer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Marketing Department for handling both the front-end and back-end development of web applications related to the BDS website, all affiliate websites, and the landing pages, including A/B testing, and all lead acquisition flow. The Web Developer will collaborate with the marketing team, the technical team and other internal stakeholders to ensure the customer experience on the websites and landing pages is in line with current marketing strategies, and the data is being stored, and passed along between internal and external systems properly.

 

Web Developer responsibilities:

  • Create visually appealing, user-friendly, impactful and effective designs that align with user needs and project requirements.
  • Build mobile-first responsive web pages that work and adapt seamlessly across different devices and screen sizes.
  • Write clean, efficient HTML, CSS, and JavaScript code to create interactive and engaging user experiences.
  • Use frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js to streamline front-end development.
  • Ensure web applications function smoothly across various browsers like Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc.
  • Develop server-side functionality using programming languages such as Node.js, Python,  PHP.
  • Implement APIs to connect the front-end with databases or external services.
  • Design, manage, and optimize databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB) to store and retrieve data efficiently.
  • Ensure data security by implementing authentication, authorization, and encryption techniques.
  • Address vulnerabilities by following best practices to secure both the front and back ends.
  • Develop and integrate RESTful or GraphQL APIs to enable data exchange between the front-end, back-end, and external systems.
  • Use Git or other version control systems to manage code changes, collaborate with team members, and maintain a clear development history.
  • Work closely with designers, project managers, and other developers to ensure smooth project execution from start to finish.
  • Perform unit, integration, and performance testing to identify and resolve bugs in both the front and back end of the application.
  • Deploy web applications to production environments using cloud services like AWS, Heroku, or Docker.
  • Monitor applications post-deployment, resolve issues, and perform necessary updates or improvements.
  • Install, update & maintain various WordPress instances.
  • Manage infrastructure as code, ensuring efficient deployment and scalability.

 

A full stack web developer is essentially a jack-of-all-trades in web development, capable of handling both the user-facing aspects (front-end) and the server-side logic (back-end) of web applications.

 

Web Developer Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field, or certification in web development or programming desired
  • Strong portfolio and 5+ years of hands-on experience in full stack development required
  • Experience in financial services, and/or marketing or advertising setting
  • Experience designing, building and maintaining an end-to-end process 
  • Proficiency in HTML5 and CSS3 to create well-structured and styled web pages.
  • Expertise in JavaScript, including frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js, to build interactive web applications.
  • Expertise in deploying, updating, maintaining and modifying WordPress based websites, including customizing front and back-end code, plugins.
  • Knowledge of responsive and mobile-first design to ensure websites function well on all devices.
  • UI/UX Principles: Understanding of basic design principles to create visually appealing and user-friendly interfaces.
  • Server-Side Languages: Experience with back-end languages like Node.js, Python, Ruby, Java, or PHP to build server-side functionality.
  • Knowledge of both relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB).
  • Experience in developing and integrating RESTful or GraphQL APIs for communication between front-end and back-end services.
  • Understanding of authentication methods (OAuth, JWT) and security best practices to protect web applications.
  • Proficiency in using Git for version control and platforms like GitHub or GitLab for collaboration.
  • Familiarity with deployment processes and platforms such as AWS, Heroku, Docker, or Azure.
  • Understanding of Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) tools like Jenkins, Travis CI, or CircleCI.
  • Knowledge of testing tools like Selenium, Jest, or Mocha or for unit, integration, and performance testing.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills to identify and resolve code issues in both front-end and back-end systems.
