Permit Team Overview

Our primary purpose is to provide excellent service to Builders, Sales and Land Development, as well as ensuring streamlined communication and coordination with other Construction Support departments.  The members of the Permit Team work together to effectively and efficiently prepare Homesites, create & release Sales Plats, compile job drawings, draw site plans, schedule Starts to promote efficiency, submit and receive permits back in hand on time to prevent any delays in Construction and promote Even Flow. 

Job Summary

A Permit Technician will assist and support the Permit Team functions by creating and compiling timely, accurate, site-specific, customer-selected construction drawings and site plans.  Permit Technicians will compile job drawings for Sales meetings and Construction Teams showing correct options.  Permit Technicians will draw site plans for specific homesites according to customer agreement.  Additionally, as a member of the Permit Team, the Permit Technician, will be required to learn the protocols and nuances of permit submission in every region, in order to foster interoperable team function.

Essential Job Functions

  • Issue Permits for assigned region(s)
    • Compile or create Job Drawings, Site Plan
    • Double Check all Job Drawings for customer-specific accuracy
    • Coordinate Permit Process for assigned region(s)
    • Ensure permits are received prior to start dates in assigned region(s)
    • Publish PDFs to Trade Partner Website
  • Communicate with Regional Agencies
    • Communicate with Regional Sales Teams
    • Communicate with Regional Construction Teams
    • Communicate with Regional General Managers
    • Communicate with Regional Government Permit & Inspection Departments
  • Issue Pre-Construction Drawings for assigned region(s)
    • Create PC Drawings
    • Select Options, and Double Check drawings for accuracy
  • Correct Errors/Plan Changes on Job Drawings
    • Correct all errors/plan changes on Job Drawings that have already been issued
    • Coordinate with Builders on errors
  • Improve Processes and Drawing Systems
    • Create/improve processes to be more efficient
    • Organize processes to be more efficient
    • Create/improve drawing systems to be more efficient
  • Fill in for other Team Members
    • Assist other team members filling in with their responsibilities

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Works in temperature-controlled environment
  • Vision for near, mid-range and far as well as hearing for low, medium, and high pitch
  • Superior communication skills with co-workers, customers, trade partners and vendors.
  • Requires physical ability for standing, sitting, crouching, kneeling, frequent walking, reaching above head and below waist
  • Must have a current and valid driver’s license and must be able to be insured by company fleet insurance. 
  • Must be able to perform all job expectations safely with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Ability to lift 30-50 pounds

 Hours & Schedule

  • 45 hrs/week (between 7:00am and 5:00pm)
  • After hours and weekends may be necessary on occasion for trips, or to meet deadlines.
