Role Overview

Core Functions

The Kitchen Steward will be focused on maintaining a clean environment that adheres to health code specifications.  This will be done through the cleaning and sanitation of china, flatware, glassware, as well as the proper placement and storage of items and tools throughout the kitchen. They will also help with any food preparations that are needed, along with plating, dishing, and serving food if need be.

Role Values

  • Scrape, rinse, and load dishes and utensils into dish machine
  • Wash and sanitize all pans, utensils, and dishes
  • Clean, sanitize, and maintain dish machine
  • Unload dishes and utensils from dish machine and organize them properly
  • Empty trash containers regularly
  • Maintain a clean work area and kitchen by sweeping and mopping as needed
  • Perform additional cleaning duties as requested
  • Clean food prep stations and equipment
  • Prepare food items to Chefs specifications
  • Serve or Dish food for plate ups or for guests

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
  • Restaurant or customer service experience preferred
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a food handler certification card
  • Must be able to stand continuously throughout an 8 hour shift
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Comfortable bending, climbing, reaching, stooping, and moving quickly
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Working knowledge of sanitation procedures
  • Ability to read, write, and speak in English

Work Environment & Physical Requirements 

  • Works in temperature-controlled environment
  • Vision for near, mid-range and far as well as hearing for low, medium, and high pitch
  • Superior communication skills with co-workers, guests, trade partners and vendors.
  • Requires physical ability for standing, sitting, crouching, kneeling, frequent walking, reaching above head and below waist
  • Must have a current and valid driver’s license and must be able to be insured by company fleet insurance.
  • Must be able to perform all job expectations safely with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Ability to lift 30-50 pounds

Hours & Schedule

  • 35-40 hours per week
  • Nights and weekends required
  • Lunch meetings and events outside of normal working hours are required
  • Occasional travel to other company regions or event locations is required
