Position Summary
Benson Hill is looking for an energetic and passionate Plant Physiology Intern to support greenhouse and field experiments focused on characterizing crop phenotypes. Benson Hill is innovating across the agriculture and food science space and is developing the next class of varieties with superior nutritional value and in-field performance. This exciting opportunity will immerse you in crop research to better understand underlying mechanisms driving different seed components in plants. The internship is a 6-month opportunity.
You Will:
(Essential Duties and Responsibilities)
- Design and conduct experiments to better understand performance of Benson Hill seed products and technologies
- Utilize high-throughput methods to measure complex phenotypic traits
- Contributing expertise and knowledge relevant to trait development and trait characterization
- Partner with analytics team to have a plan for analyses and interpretation of results.
You Have:
(Competencies and Qualifications)
Experience
- Currently in the process of obtaining a degree (Ph.D., or Masters) with relevant research experience in Agronomy, Plant Biology, Plant Breeding...;
- Experience performing greenhouse or field experiments
- Solid understanding of plant physiology
- Demonstrated problem solving experience analyzing experimental datasets related to field trialing
- Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a matrix environment and influence people at varying levels of responsibility Candidates must demonstrate business aptitude and possess the ability to rapidly
