The Legal Department partners with the business and navigates legal and regulatory conditions to maximize business outcomes. The team provides proactive legal support to functional groups/departments across the organization to ensure ongoing compliance with appropriate laws, policies and practices.  The team also supports the operations of the organization through contract negotiation, corporate governance, proactive client counseling and training, and intellectual property strategy and execution.

Position Summary

We are actively seeking a Senior Paralegal to its evolving legal team to assist both in-house attorneys and outside legal partners to provide efficient and cost-effective legal support in a variety of areas including commercial contracts and other agreements, litigation support, and general corporate governance.  Intellectual property experience a plus.  The position is located in St. Louis, Missouri. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

With guidance from attorneys, responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Review, amend, and draft Non-disclosure, Material Transfer, Grower contracts, Service Agreements, Consulting Agreements and other agreements for business clients.
  • Develop or update contract templates as needed.
  • Support development of contract processes, including the implementation of contract management system.
  • Maintenance of records related to intellectual property portfolio, including trademarks and patents. 
  • General legal research.
  • Training and guidance on legal matters.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Competencies and Qualifications

Education

  • Preferred Bachelors degree and Paralegal Certificate from an ABA accredited or approved program. Min requirement is HS Diploma/GED with a recommended 8+ years of experience.

Experience

  • Paired with a Bachelor’s Degree, at least 4+ years of paralegal experience or relevant specialized training

Software/Skillset

  • A notary is a plus

  • Must be able to manage a varied and high-volume workload, including legally sensitive and confidential matters, effectively and without supervision.
  • Must be able to work across all levels in the organization and across multiple departments with agility.
  • Must be comfortable with ambiguity and be resourceful enough to find solutions; a fast learner.
