We are actively seeking a Sr. Manager, Soybean Testing to join our rapidly growing team. The lead will work closely with the Benson Hill breeding team to establish program objectives and will be directly responsible for execution across breeding stations. The lead will oversee a team of talented managers and research associates across stations in Iowa, Illinois, and Maryland. Key responsibilities include establishment of program goals, recruitment and retention of employees, budget management, seed processing & shipping, establishment or research plots, data collection, winter nursery support, and other related activities. The role will be based in St. Louis.
You’ll make an impact by: (Essential Duties and Responsibilities)
Building and retaining strong teams across breeding stations.
Ensuring timely, accurate, and efficient execution of seed processing, trial management, data collection, and harvesting operations.
Establishing and maintaining a strong working relationship with Benson Hill breeding and other research teams.
Innovating optimized methods of field testing & phenotyping a wide variety of soybean products.
Identifying equipment and facilities needs and managing acquisition.
Managing operational and capital budgets.
Communicating plans, status, and outcomes of operations with a variety of Benson Hill audiences.
Employing a broad range of technical skills
Education: Minimum Requirement is BS degree in relevant field plus 5 years of related experience
Qualifications/Skills: Strong leadership capability, preference for 5+ years experience leading people, deep knowledge of breeding operations, experience managing field research data, working knowledge of small plot equipment and operations, budget management experience.
Ability to travel up to 25% of the time, consisting of visits to outlying research locations, seasonal meetings, and to winter nursery operations
Strong skills with Microsoft Office and ability to learn and utilize proprietary software tools
