Position Summary
This position supports Belong Health’s Analytics team. Reporting to the VP, Analytics + Growth, Belong Health’s Senior Analytic Associate plays a critical role in supporting the foundational growth of our business by building out the analytic, data science, and risk and quality analytics functions of health plans. You will be part of a small and dynamic SEAL team working side by side with senior leaders to build and execute the vision of a more intelligent and compassionate health plan for some of the nation’s most at risk individuals. You will work to revolutionize how a health plan makes decisions by driving a high insight to action ratio that maximizes the impact of our every interaction and positively enables the health and social decisions of our members.
Essential Position Duties
- Work with senior leadership to stand up Belong Health’s analytics infrastructure and reporting capabilities for operational excellence and growth including the implementation of Arcadia and scoped custom-built analytic products
- Optimize analytic performance in support of plan and IPA cost, utilization, quality, and risk operations
- Utilize actuarial science principles and knowledge of population health, quality, health economics, provider variation, and risk-adjustment/stratification to develop analytic insights and methodology solving core business problems
- Use Tableau, Arcadia, Vista, and Excel as needed to solve business problems that scale across markets
- Perform rapid prototyping, and develop scalable analytic insights
- Promote a culture of accountability and performance to ensure timely and satisfactory resolution of highly complex, specialized, and non-routine partner issues.
- Support the buildout of a broader analytics team

Education and/or Experience
- B.A. or B.S. from four-year college or university in mathematics, computer science, engineering, or business
- 3+ years’ experience working at a health insurance company, healthcare actuarial firm, healthcare consulting, or healthcare analytics vendor driving MLR and provider performance improvement analytics and strategy
- 3+ years’ experience working with data visualization tools like Tableau or Vista
- 3+ years’ experience with SQL and R solving healthcare business problems
- Exposure to healthcare systems architecture design and improvement processes
- 1 year of experience with key aspects of healthcare claims data cleansing
- Demonstrated experience with financial modeling in a managed care, managed Medicaid, or MA environment
- 3+ passed actuarial exams strongly preferred
Required Skills
- Superior structured problem-solving, analytical, and quantitative skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of diverse healthcare industry stakeholders, including physician organizations, health systems, health plans, managed care organizations, payers, and brokers to support the development of advanced analytics to solve strategic business problems.
- Experience with medical and pharmacy claims, EMR data, provider rosters, and other healthcare data sources
- Knowledge of how healthcare data is generated and the ability to identify key context needed to solve business problems
- Ability to describe common health plan analytic challenges in Risk Adjustment, Quality, Utilization management, and risk stratification
- Ability to identify and work within key business constraints and imperfect information
- Knowledge of value-based and managed care models, analytics, and business needs
Language Skills
Ability to author and edit internal and market-facing materials demonstrating strong writing skills. Ability to author and edit reports and articles as well as create presentation materials for use by others. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, clinical articles, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, or prospective customers.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to evaluate and interpret basic financial, market, and sales data to yield usable insights to drive marketing plans.
Computer Skills
Has advanced computer job skills including but not limited to logging on to systems, ability to communicate by email, ability to compose documents, enter database information, create presentations, download forms, and preserve/backup important data. Must possess intermediate level skill in Microsoft Office.
Reasoning Ability
Strong critical thinking skills, including being able to test the validity of existing plans and creatively approach problem solving to drive improved team outcomes.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
