OVERVIEW
The Off-Price Inventory Manager is responsible for overseeing and executing the strategies for liquidating excess, obsolete, or unsellable inventory in a cost-effective manner. This role involves developing and implementing liquidation plans, managing customer relationships, and optimizing inventory turnover to minimize losses and maximize recovery.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop Liquidation Strategies: Design and implement comprehensive plans for inventory liquidation to ensure maximum recovery of assets and minimize financial losses.
- Inventory Assessment: Analyze inventory levels, identify slow-moving or obsolete stock, and determine appropriate liquidation methods.
- Customer Management: Establish and maintain relationships with liquidation customers, including discount retailers, and online platforms. Negotiate terms and manage contracts to ensure favorable outcomes.
- Market Analysis: Stay informed about market trends and demand to make informed decisions about the best liquidation methods and timing.
- Pricing and Promotion: Propose pricing strategies, manage promotions, and develop marketing materials to drive sales of liquidated inventory.
- Compliance and Documentation: Ensure all liquidation activities comply with legal regulations and company policies. Maintain accurate records of inventory disposition, financial transactions, and reports.
- Performance Tracking: Monitor and report on the effectiveness of liquidation efforts, including sales performance, recovery rates, and cost-effectiveness.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with planning, sales, and logistics teams to align liquidation activities with overall business objectives and inventory management strategies.
- Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve liquidation processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of equivalent work experience
- Initiative-taking and creative critical thinking skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment
- Strong diligence, organizational skills, and time management abilities
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and capability to self-prioritize workload, in an environment with changing priorities.
- Must be an efficient user of Microsoft office tools such as excel, word, PowerPoint. must be able to create spreadsheets, charts and graphs, formulas, V-look ups, etc.
- Must have close-out contacts and experience in the Off-Price/Close-Out inventory industry, as well as familiarity with industry contacts
