WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Belharra is looking for a motivated Senior Associate Scientist to join our proteomics team.  In this role, you’ll collaborate with chemists and biologists to create and use specialized tools for drug discovery.  The successful candidate will have a background with high-throughput sample preparation and small molecule screening of large libraries.  We are seeking a self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and an innovative mindset.  This role will contribute to the growth of Belharra’s research portfolio by screening high value targets in a variety of cell-based assays.

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

  • Collaborate with the proteomics team to implement high throughput chemoproteomic platform
  • Support multiple and parallel projects through high-throughput sample preparation, including probe enrichments, activity-based proteomics, MS-based quantities strategies (TMT, SILAC)
  • Prioritize tasks to support multiple and parallel projects.
  • Manage tissue culture demands (including multiple cancer cell or primary cell models)

Ideal Candidate:

  • Master’s degree with 6+ years or bachelor’s degree with 9+ years of experience in fields like chemical biology, biochemistry, or cell biology (industry experience is a plus)
  • Hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques (SDS-PAGE, western blotting)
  • Extensive tissue culture experience with immortalized cell lines (suspension and adherent). Primary tissue culture experience and transient transfections is a plus.
  • General understanding of quantitative proteomic data acquisition and analysis techniques (e.g., SILAC, TMT, PRM).
  • Perform under tight timelines and work effectively across multiple projects and align with different project teams/ departments.
  • Familiarity with high-throughput or automated instruments and assays such as the Hamilton.
  • Knowledge of small-molecule target identification/ deconvolution (CETSA, DARTS and FUSION).
  • Experience in complex proteomics sample preparation including immunoprecipitations, small-molecule enrichments, and whole proteome analysis.
  • Proficiency with common scientific software and data analyses (Excel, PowerPoint, GraphPad)

$93,000$133,000 USD

At Belharra Therapeutics, Inc. pay ranges are subject to change and are assigned to a job based on its level within the company.  Individual pay within that range can vary for several reasons including skills/capabilities, experience, and available budget.
