Salary: £27.5k (24k base + bonus)

Start date: ASAP

For years, we’ve been using our data to produce cutting edge reports & publications for our high profile clients (think Barclays, JP Morgan, London Stock Exchange & more!). But we think we have barely scratched the surface of what we can do with these reports. Now we need ‘Van Gogh of Visualisation’ to make our reports look as visually striking & engaging as possible, but also to help us explore new ways of presenting our data & to be the creative lead on any potential new products.

Are you also excited by the chance to work for an innovative, fast-growing scale-up where you’ll get tonnes of responsibility from day one? Do you want to work for a company full of lovely people with an amazing culture? (Go check out our Glassdoor to see just how lovely our culture really is).

If the answers to these questions are ‘yes’, read on!

The role

We’re a market-leading tech company that provides data on the fastest-growing companies in the UK (think Monzo and Babylon!). Our Research and Consultancy team uses this data to provide bespoke reports for our clients, helping them to understand, work with and support these exciting businesses. To get the most from these reports, we need a Data Visualisation Designer to give them beautiful layouts & design engaging infographics to help them stand out from the crowd.

As well as getting fully involved in project delivery, we’re looking into introducing a new way of building our reports. You will be an integral part of shaping this brand new product and turning many of our classic reports into exciting interactive sources of data. If you want to help shape the future of our team, then look no further.

Don’t worry - we won’t leave you to go in blind! If you have never heard of a ‘microsite’, we’ll be here to train you up on all the technical stuff.

Day to day your responsibilities will include:

  • Reports & publications: You’ll be instrumental in the delivery of our reports & publications. Working collaboratively with our ResCon Associates, you’ll be responsible for making sure every part of our reports & publications is laid out clearly & is visually stunning (check out some of our previous work here!)!
  • Data Graphics: Getting creative and producing your own infographics & charts that show off our data in new & exciting ways.
  • Innovation: We’re thinking of new ways of visualising our data & how we can make our old reports more interactive. You can help us shape this new product as we start to develop it and even have input into how we might sell it.

About you

We’re looking for a keen designer with an interest in the B2B space. There is no ‘one size fits all’ with this role - whether you are a fresh University graduate with strong academics or have been working in design for a couple of years, we’d love to hear from you!

Ideally, you will be:

  • Independent: you are confident in taking a brief/project and running with it!
  • Detail oriented & creative: you have a strong eye for what looks visually appealing and great attention to detail.
  • A team player: you work well with others, can argue your case & make suitable compromises
  • Interested in the economy: you keep up to date on the latest developments. This will be super helpful with knowing how best to present data in each project.

Not essential, but good to have:

  • Experience with Tableau and/or Adobe
  • Experience with Data Visualisation

Our offer

We invest a lot in keeping our people happy and healthy! So as well as a competitive salary of £27.5k (£24k + bonus) and a super lovely team, you'll also get:

  • Training: Structured training & regular personal development opportunities
  • Wellbeing: Coaching, counselling, and virtual yoga/mindfulness sessions
  • Socials: Drinks every Friday, office parties, company away days, and regular team events
  • Options: Substantial options scheme, so you can share in the growth you help create

  • Snacks: Unlimited supply of fruit, nuts, tea, and coffee
  • Books: You can order any relevant books you like or come along to our book club evening
  • Travel loans: Rail season ticket loan and cycle to work scheme
  • Hybrid working: Flexible office & remote working – see below for more details!

About us

We are the market leader for tracking the most exciting companies in the UK. Through a combination of people power and machine learning, our data platform helps over 20 different industries invest in, understand, and partner with start-ups and scale-ups all over the country.

Other than the product, our real key to our success is our wonderful culture. Based in the heart of vibrant Brixton, we’re a supportive, close-knit group with a range of interests and quirks - from bakers, to artists, to beer-brewers to gamers. To drive our company forward, we take responsibility for our work & embrace our mistakes, continually challenge ourselves & each other to do better, and be proactive & energetic in everything we do!

Hybrid/flexible working

Like most companies, we’ve been umm-ing and ahh-ing about this for months, trying to work out what the perfect balance between in-office and remote working should look like for us. And we’ll be totally upfront with you – it’s really hard! We don’t yet know what exactly our policy on this should look like long term. But we’re keen to share our current thinking and some of the things that (we think) we know for sure. We’d also love to chat to you more about this in the course of the interview process so please do ask us questions!

And what are we doing at the moment?

  • We’re currently running a trial, during which we’re asking everyone to spend at least 60% of each month in an office (London or Nottingham)
  • We’ll be reviewing how this is going in November/December and again at the end of the trial – we'll take into account how everyone in the company is finding it, how managers think it's going, as well as considering it from the "company perspective"

Ticking all the boxes?
