While the world is cautioned to stay home in response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, BAYADA’s mission to safely keep people there has never been more important. Without home care, our clients risk infection and hospitalization, at hospitals with already-strained resources.
With the protection of our clients and caregivers as our highest priority, we have mobilized a swift, efficient, and comprehensive response so that we can stay on the front lines, giving care—safely. If you’re the type of person who rises to the occasion and wants to make a difference in the lives of others, we want to meet you (virtually, even)! We can work through this crisis—together.
At BAYADA, we believe that educating, training, and promoting the growth and development of clinical professionals is vital to achieving our vision of helping millions of people worldwide experience a better quality of life in the comfort of their own home. The Pediatric Nurse Residency Program stays true to this vision by preparing recent Registered Nurse (RN) and Licensed Practice Nurse (LPN) graduates to care for children with special needs from birth through adolescence. The program also emphasizes the importance of our core values — compassion, excellence, and reliability — the cornerstone of our company philosophy, The BAYADA Way.
The BAYADA Pediatrics Nurse Residency Program is a full-time, intensive, 4-week program designed to prepare RN and LPN nurse graduates for their transition into a professional nursing role in pediatric home health care.
Through didactic learning, clinical precepting, and high- or mid-fidelity training in a simulation lab using realistic mannequins to simulate emergency scenarios, the residents will experience a comprehensive, hands-on introduction to pediatric home health care.
Our program includes:
- A registered nurse clinical manager who will mentor the residents and provide ongoing, one-on-one support
- Designated preceptors who will facilitate on-the-job training
- Participation in clinical training on topics related to pediatric home care nursing
- Clinical rotations in clients’ homes
- Classroom learning
- Skills lab training
The 4-week core curriculum focuses on:
- Psychosocial issues and family-centered care
- Growth and development
- School age
- Medication administration
- Review of skin, skeleton, respiratory, cardiac, GI, and neuromuscular systems
- Review of complex, multi-symptom cases and syndromes
- Child abuse
- Communication with physicians
Residents graduate from the program upon successful completion of all course objectives, presentation of a final case study, and completion of the course evaluation.
Nurses who meet the following criteria are eligible for the BAYADA Pediatrics Nurse Residency Program:
- Recent RN and LPN nursing school graduates from an accredited institution
- Successful completion of nursing boards
- Demonstrated success in nursing school curriculum with a GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Willingness to commit to 9 months of field work with BAYADA Pediatrics following graduation from the 4-week program
