Basis Technology has a software engineer opening in our digital forensics group in Reston, VA to build and maintain both open source and proprietary Java-based applications  based on open source applications,Autopsy and The Sleuth Kit. These tools are used by thousands of digital investigators worldwide. Responsibilities

  • Participate in the design and implementation of our open source and proprietary digital forensics tools, such as Autopsy and The Sleuth Kit
  • Create new modules and expand the functionality of the underlying frameworks
  • Expand capabilities of both the desktop and client-server versions
  • Develop both graphical interfaces and back end software
  • Produce Java code in an agile development environment
  • Create user-focused documentation

Qualifications

  • MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN who is able to obtain a TS/SCI U.S. government security clearance with polygraph
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline
  • 2+ years experience programming with Java or C++
  • 2+ years experience with database systems such as SQL Server,  MySQL, PostgreSQL, or  SQLite
  • Working knowledge of Windows, Macintosh, and Linux operating systems
  • Working knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design
  • Proven ability to work independently and under tight timelines
  • Ability to convey technical information effectively and concisely to a wide range of audiences
  • Demonstrated experience working successfully with agile software development strategies and methods
