BarkleyOKRP has a newly created executive role and is looking for top talent in media buying/activation.
 
The role requires a strategic business leader who can lead a team of 45 buyers and efficiently execute/activate solution-oriented media strategies & plans ingrained in understanding & driving results for brands/clients.
 
This position is responsible for overseeing the Media Buying practice, working closely with leads from all activation expertise columns (Programmatic, Search, Social, & Direct Buying) delivering on client’s overall business KPIs. The EVP partners with SVP, Media Planning and Chief Media Officer to ensure creation of proper team structure and processes to deliver efficiency and quality of work for all client initiatives. In addition, they are responsible for selling core capabilities of Buying discipline to current and new business prospects.

Responsibilities

  • Has expertise spanning both traditional and digital media, this role will own the full scope of omni-channel media execution
  • Inspires, grows, leads & coaches a large team of smart buying/activation specialists
  • Develops & upskills talent to stay on top of industry trends, new platforms, emerging technologies & opportunities to bring to clients on a regular basis
  • Defines, improves & manages success metrics across all media channels to align with client business KPIs & goals
  • Works closely with the data & analytics teams to establish accurate measurement strategies & insight delivery for clients
  • Builds strong consultative relationships with clients and other departments within the agency to create & foster a collaborative working relationship
  • Manages team allocation and assignments for efficiency and growth as well as supporting SOW creation for clients alongside Brand Leadership
  • Crafts and delivers business case to Executive agency leadership for incremental positions
  • Supports the Chief Media Officer with the vision and growth plan for the team
  • Ensures flawless delivery of client work and steps in as senior level communication on various client satisfaction concerns, when needed
  • Regularly reviews team structure and establishes growth opportunities for the Buying team specifically, to help elevate offering and stay on the forefront of changing landscape
  • Manages overall Buying team and navigates personnel advancement opportunities with Human Resources and relevant team leads
  • Works collaboratively across various departments within the agency to ensure the right conditions are being created for a truly integrated approach
  • Provides ongoing feedback, manages and conducts performance evaluations for direct reports
  • Reviews and aligns with HR on proper compensation for individual partners on the Buying team
  • Helps support individual partner career growth
  • Stays on the leading edge of industry trends and brings fresh thinking to the team
  • Reviews agency utilization reports to ensure teams proper time entry as well as spot burnout or underutilization in talent
  • Actively identifies opportunities to share-out media wins and education within the larger team and agency
  • Updates Chief Media Officer on status of team on an ongoing basis and elevates issues in a timely manner
  • Other duties/responsibilities may be assigned from time to time

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to lead a large team while managing quality, performance & delivery with speed
  • 15+ years of Media experience required
  • Strong established presence with industry vendors, platforms, marketers
  • Experience in working with all media channels
  • Problem solving and solutions-oriented mindset and leadership style
  • Knowledge of overall Media landscape and best practices
  • Understanding of agency workflows and organizational structures
  • Knowledge and prior use of various Media platforms
  • Experience managing a big team and/or having direct reports
  • Experience in building a team and expanding product offerings
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Proficiency with verbal and digital communication
  • Ability to multi-task and deliver work on-time for set deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of internal teams and business groups, including Creative, Account Management, Finance and Project Management
  • Must be prepared for a fast-paced environment and be comfortable making decisions
