We are seeking FX Pipeline TD to join our team working on an animated feature film. Reporting to the Lead Pipeline TD, you will collaborate closely with the FX and the Pipeline departments to develop tools and solutions tailored to the needs of the FX department. 

What you’ll be doing: 

  • Develop efficient, reusable tools using best-in-class software development practices. 
  • Design and implement FX and simulation pipeline tools to fulfill production requests, ensuring adherence to department standards as directed by show and technical supervisors. 
  • Maintain and enhance existing workflows and scripts. 
  • Provide frontline production support to FX Artists, aiding in troubleshooting assets and shots, and assisting with general problem-solving. 
  • Collaborate with the FX Supervisor and Lead Pipeline TD to determine optimal technical and creative approaches. 
  • Execute tasks within established deadlines set by the FX Supervisor and Lead Pipeline TD. 
  • Create comprehensive documentation for developed tools and provide training to other users. 
  • Proactively communicate and collaborate across teams 
  • Ensure alignment with project leads for technical and aesthetic goals 
  • Meet and maintain project deadlines consistently 

What you’ll need: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Visualization, or Computer Animation, or relevant work experience. 
  • 4+ years' experience in the animation/VFX industry. 
  • 4+ years of pipeline development experience. 
  • Proficiency in Python and VEX scripts. 
  • Strong familiarity with Houdini. 
  • String understanding with HDA (Houdini Digital Assets). 
  • Good knowledge of PyQt, PySide and Qt for UI development. 
  • Solid understanding of the Windows and Linux Operating System. 
  • Demonstrated abilities in debugging, development testing, problem-solving, and documentation. 
  • Exceptional organizational abilities with a focus on dynamic teamwork. 
  • Capacity to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and resolve issues efficiently. 
  • Ability to assess and address production needs and tasks promptly. 
  • Excellent communication and collaborative skills 
  • Experience with ShotGrid and Deadline. 

For bonus points: 

  • C++ programming experience. 
  • Worked with Katana Python API and Lua (OpScript). 
  • Worked with Katana, USD, and Renderman. 
  • General knowledge about other departments’ workflows. 
  • Experience interacting with studio-based asset package database system. 

Salary Range CAD $1,600 - $2,400 / week. The Salary Range is the span between the minimum and maximum base salary for a position. The midpoint of the range is approximately halfway between the minimum and the maximum and represents an employee that possesses full job knowledge, qualifications and experience for the position. In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range for a job.
