We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Animator with extensive experience in feature film or episodic animation to join our dynamic team. As the Lead Animator, you will oversee the animation process for a team of animators from creative launch to completion, ensuring the highest level of quality and creativity.  

What you will do: 

  • Mentor and lead animators to improve overall quality while meeting production milestones   
  • Partner with Directors/Supervisors and other departments to implement creative direction    
  • Attend animation dailies, provide feedback, and support artists in achieving their production goals 
  • Attend QC meetings, representing assigned sequences, ensuring all departments receive the latest versions of scenes, and assigning notes as needed. 
  • Guide and support animation teams, focusing on strengths and fostering growth opportunities when casting assignments   
  • Collaborate with the Animation Supervisors(s) and production with animation bidding, as needed    
  • Assist the team in submitting work for feedback from Directors/clients, both technically and creatively, as needed     
  • Assist with rig and development exercises, provide written, verbal and/or video feedback, as needed   
  • Provide character animation, cycles, and tutorials to support the team(s) as needed    
  • Foster an inclusive and collaborative team atmosphere, communicating challenges to management for support, on-going 

 What we require:  

  • 7+ years' experience working on a TV / Animation / or VFX production   
  • 2+ years in a lead role on fully animated or hybrid features is a plus  
  •  Previous feature film experience on a minimum of 2 feature films is a plus  
  • Excellent proficiency in Maya  
  • A demo reel that demonstrates the following:  
    • Senior level animation skills with a variety of animation styles   
    • Strong animation principles, timing, and acting choices  
  • Knowledge of character rigging solutions and ability to communicate with rigging team, and/or suggesting animation workarounds wherever possible  
  • Adept at working in a hybrid team environment, providing feedback to artists in various locations, both in-studio and remotely   
  • Excellent communication and collaborative skills  
  • Ability to train and guide a team of professionals  

  • Applicants must reside within BC or Quebec
  • Start Date: April 2024
  • Vancouver Pay Range: $2,200 - $2,500 CAD Weekly 

The Salary Range is the span between the minimum and maximum base salary for a position. The midpoint of the range is approximately halfway between the minimum and the maximum and represents an employee who possesses full job knowledge, qualifications, and experience for the position. In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred, or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range for a job.
