Pipeline Technical Director (TD)

Bardel is currently looking for a Pipeline TD to work collaboratively with our Emmy award winning studio team. Working closely with all Technology teams, this role is responsible for the successful creation of the company’s pipeline software tools, supporting Production in making technical decisions and general technical support throughout the production process.  

Position Overview 

The Pipeline TD is responsible for the successful creation of the company’s pipeline software tools, collaborating and supporting Production in making technical decisions and general technical support throughout the production process. 

Key responsibilities 

  • Developing stable, scalable and effective libraries, APIs, and tools for our animation production pipeline 
  • Working with artists, leads, and supervisors to implement solutions for production workflows with an emphasis on optimization. 
  • Collaborating with the pipeline team to map out and optimize project timelines to achieve goals. 
  • Adhering to coding standards and procedures as outlined by the pipeline team. 
  • Documenting code from top to bottom by following the standards as outlined by the pipeline team. 
  • Research and Development of new software and techniques to recommend improvements to studio environment and workflows. 
  • Keep up to speed on current technology trends and tools both hardware and software 
  • Aiding in all stages of production software and pipeline support. 
  • Mentoring and coaching team members 

Required knowledge, skill, and ability: 

  • Experience in VFX or Animation   
  • 1-2 years of Python experience 
  • Proven Javascript using UXP For Adobe products interfacing with Shotgrid. 
  • Experience in developing libraries used by other TDs and software engineers 
  • Experience with SQL, Shotgun, Deadline and Renderman is an asset 
  • Experience with at least one of the source control systems 
  • Experience as a Pipeline TD is preferred 
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Knowledge of up-to-date Production Technology/IT methods, practices, and trends 
  • Excellent problem solving skills and ability to think outside the box. 
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and work under strict deadlines

Start date: As soon as possible 

Term of Employment: Permanent Full-Time

Work Hours: 40 per week 

Hybrid Work Schedule: Remote work available 

Salary Expectation: $ 1,641.5 to 1,650/week ($41.04 to 41.25/hour)
