JOB TITLE: Strength & Conditioning Professional – AAA Seasonal

DEPARTMENT: Player Development – S&C

START DATE: Jan/Feb 2024 (Prior to Spring Training)

COMPENSATION: Hourly, up to 40hrs, with potential for more

 

JOB SUMMARY: The Baltimore Orioles are seeking a seasonal Minor League Strength & Conditioning Professional for the 2024 Minor League Baseball Championship season. This person will be responsible for assisting the AAA Minor League Strength and Conditioning Coach in the implementation and supervision of the Baltimore Orioles strength & conditioning program at the AAA Affiliate in Norfolk, Virginia.

REPORTS TO: MiLB Strength & Conditioning Coordinator & AAA Strength Coach

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Primary duties to include, but not limited to the following:

  • Administer and manage the daily strength and conditioning program as directed by strength and conditioning coordinator.
  • Supervise and instruct weight training and conditioning program.
  • Conduct activities outside of the weight room such as warm up, pre-practice routines, post-game routines.
  • Manage organizational data within athlete management systems and apps. Complete reports using the data on a daily/weekly/monthly basis.
  • Instruction of the strength and conditioning program in accordance with the Baltimore Orioles strength and conditioning program.
  • Able to create programs and adjust programs when necessary.
  • Conduct movement and power testing on a weekly/monthly basis and adhere to the strength and conditioning department’s testing guidelines.
  • Collaborate with team medical and coaching staff.
  • Able to assist in movement assessments and implementation of corrective strategies.
  • Administer performance tests, goals for each test, and lead warm up protocols for performance tests.
  • Data collection.
  • Travel with AAA Affiliate Team.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science or related field.
  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) required.
  • CPR/First Aid certified required.
  • Growth mindset.

Desired:

  • Previous baseball experience.
  • Previous experience in rehab setting.
  • Desire to be baseball strength coach
  • Knowledge of PRI, FMS, Velocity Based Training, Workloads
  • Ability to collaborate with all departments within a baseball organization
  • Proficient in Spanish
