We are seeking a Senior Manager of Technical Accounting to lead all aspects of technical accounting and reporting at Babylist! This is a critical Finance role that will interface across various teams, as well as the internal and external auditors. You will provide leadership and technical guidance of accounting policy development and financial reporting. 

You will be responsible for accounting research, drafting accounting policies and memos, providing technical support to members of the Finance and Accounting team and financial reporting under PCAOB standards. As the subject matter expert on all technical accounting topics and team development, you will take ownership of all research, documentation, and implementation of FASB pronouncements. You will also be entrusted with all oral and written communication with senior leadership and external auditors for technical accounting, reporting, and accounting policies.

The successful candidate will be detailed and deadline-oriented, operational, and can be highly successful in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. 

We are looking for someone that has demonstrable , e-commerce and retail experience that thrives in hyper-growth companies. 

What You’ll Do 

  • Review, interpret and develop policies to ensure compliance with GAAP, Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), Emerging Issues Task Force (EITF), and other regulatory requirements. 
  • Provide interpretation of new GAAP and PCAOB rules and regulations and their potential effect on the business. Ensure clear and concise written documentation of accounting conclusions and accounting policies.
  • Lead technical accounting research, prepare technical accounting memos and communicate technical accounting conclusions.
  • Take ownership of equity and stock-based compensation related accounting, including evaluation of technical accounting aspects of equity grants and modifications
  • Assist in the annual update of corporate accounting policies and disclosure benchmarking
  • Prepare US GAAP compliant financial statements, footnotes disclosures, and other financial reporting documents under PCAOB standards
  • Work effectively with cross functional business partners, including Finance, HR, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Engineering, Product, IT and other teams
  • Assist in identifying, developing, documenting and monitoring internal controls as part of operational accounting to achieve SOX compliance
  • Educate and provide training to other members of the accounting team on technical accounting matters
  • Monitor peer company filings and keep the executive team informed on trends and best practices.
  • Hire, coach and mentor a high-performing Technical Accounting team

What You’ve Done

  • BA/BS/Master’s in Accounting
  • CPA license required
  • Minimum of 7+ years of accounting/finance experience
  • 5+ years in public accounting 
  • Evidence of exceptional US GAAP technical accounting proficiency
  • Excellent research and analytical skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, including pivot tables, sumifs, v-lookup, and index formulas
  • Experience in the retail/e-commerce industry is a plus
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
