Position Summary:

Babylist is hiring an Associate Buyer to become a part of our growing e-commerce team. In this role, you will support the softlines division in assortment selection, pricing decisions, product set up, site merchandising, and inventory budget management. What You'll Do

  • Support the strategic business vision for the softlines categories and set strategies for growth in your defined area of ownership
  • Collaborate with and support the Merchandise Manager with strategy building, assortment building, assortment planning and promotional initiatives
  • Partner with vendors on new product selection, negotiating product costs, exclusivity arrangements, marketing partnerships, and promotional support
  • Manage new assortment for your categories including buy quantities, flow timing, product updates, and phase out communication to all cross functional partners
  • Manage ongoing product pricing and promotion changes and how they appear on the site landing pages and product pages
  • Analyze and report on weekly/monthly/quarterly category performance; identify and communicate opportunities and risks, and serve up assortment changes based on sell-through.
  • Collaborate with planning to manage inventory across owned and drop ship channels
  • Research industry trends and perform competitive analysis to identify opportunities for business growth and assortment expansion
  • Create and manage product pages for a large and growing number of products in our store

What You've Done

  • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in a retail buying or merchandising role, ecommerce preferred
  • You have strong excel and analytical skills, can interpret meaningful themes from quantitative data, and have the financial acumen to interpret, pivot, and actively in-season manage a business based on a P&L and sales reports.
  • You are comfortable with inventory planning concepts, retail math, and best practices. 
  • You are comfortable forming and developing relationships with vendors and are able to negotiate effectively to margin goals.
