We are seeking a Director of Data Engineering to lead and build a high performing, Agile data engineering team, and drive company ETL & data engineering efforts. This individual will help Azlo in delivering scalable, performant, and real-time solutions and help the organization develop strategies to build long-term platform stability and world-class data architectures around our products. 

What You’ll Be Doing 

  • Lead a growing Data Engineering team in defining, building, and optimizing our data pipelines and Big Data Infrastructure. 
  • Define and implement best practices & standards to ensure Data Science work is maintainable and scalable. 
  • Manage, evaluate, and support our Data Engineering team; provide outstanding people management support, including coaching and mentoring.
  • Partner as a thought leader with Product leadership to define our data engineering roadmap. 
  • Train and mentor key stakeholders across functions on topics related to data infrastructure and data engineering. 

What You’ll Bring

  • 5+ years of Data Engineering leadership experience, preferably within the Financial Technology space. 
  • 5+ years of experience working with different databases (both  RDBMS and NOSQL), Big Data technologies, data integration, and data management.
  • 3+ years of experience with Spark and Hadoop ecosystems (HDFS, Hive, Impala), and ideally familiar with distribution, such as Cloudera (Hortonworks) or AWS EMR.
  • Demonstrated proficiency at building and high functioning data engineering teams and scaling big data infrastructure in a dynamic, complex, and fast-paced environment. 
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies and CI/CD tools such as git, Jenkins, Sonar,  and Jira. 
  • Ability to think and communicate creatively, thoughtfully, and proactively with diverse technical and non-technical stakeholders, across all organizational levels.

Additional Details

  • This position is located in Portland, Oregon.
