Overview:

AXON’s Medical Writer (MW) Academy training program provides successful applicants with the opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of healthcare communications. Collaborating with experienced medical communications professionals and industry opinion leaders, participants in this entry-level program will gain valuable experience and a strong foundation for a career as a medical writer.

The MW Academy training program will be structured as follows:

  • 3 months of inductions and classroom-based learning, introducing you to the fundamentals of medical writing for different audiences in healthcare
  • 3 months of account-based learning within AXON’s Medical Practice. You will work on projects and benefit from on-the-job coaching, to help you translate complex scientific data into evidence-based strategies and gain expertise in data-driven storytelling that empowers patients and healthcare professionals
  • Three 2-month rotations through AXON’s other practices to refine your skills and gain exposure to other disciplines within healthcare communications

Key Dates:

We are looking forward to welcoming applications for our MW Academy training program. Applications will open on September 2, 2024. Successful applicants will be invited to participate in our interview process, taking place in October 2024.

Selected candidates should get ready to launch their MW career in healthcare communications in January 2025. Exact start date to be confirmed.

Candidates:

Although many programs focus on academic qualifications and target mostly graduates, our entry-level program is open to anyone with a passion for science and medicine, a flair for translating complex scientific data into clear, impactful messages, and who wants to kick-start a rewarding career as a medical writer.

While we will provide you with regular learning and development opportunities, via our specially designed curriculum, and on-the-job coaching, we will be looking for applicants to have the following foundational skills and behaviors when applying for the program:

  • A curious and analytical mindset coupled with an instinct for creative storytelling
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask, effective time management, be proactive, and thrive in a busy and variable environment

  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and interacting in Teams

Please note that the successful candidate must have permission to work in the UK by the start of their employment. We are unable to provide sponsorship for this position. The MW Academy will be a hybrid program, with at least two days required to be in the AXON London office.
