Our Team

As a senior Front-end software engineer on the Realtime Operations (RTO) team, you will collaborate with other engineers to shape and drive technical solutions for RTO web applications. Your strong design skills will help you make products like Axon Respond bulletproof and fault-tolerant, while meeting demanding interactivity and responsiveness requirements. Your customer-obsession leads you to join forces with product and design to imagine and deliver innovative solutions to key customer problems.

You will work closely with engineers in your team to review designs and steer them toward more reliable and sustainable outcomes, making you a force multiplier. You are a great collaborator and coach, and will help to grow engineers in your team. You foster a friendly, open, introspective culture that encourages everyone to speak their mind and avoid red tape, unnecessary rituals, bureaucracy and politics. What You’ll Do

Location: London/Remote, United Kingdom
Reports to: Senior Engineering Manager

  • Lead the design, development, operations and maintenance of mission-critical web applications
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design to solve the team’s biggest technical challenges
  • Ensure performance, quality, reliability, availability and responsiveness
  • Identify and correct bottlenecks and fix bugs
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure coding standards are maintained
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our development processes and practices

What Your Bring

  • 8+ years of industry experience shipping Web applications
  • Understanding and experience with networking protocols such as Websockets, TCP, UDP, DNS, Push Notifications, (debugging with Wireshark or Charles a plus)
  • Expert knowledge of JavaScript, Typescript, HTML, CSS, and modern frameworks/libraries, including React or Angular JS.
  • Strong experience with RESTful APIs is essential.
  • Experience of writing concurrent code that is free of data races. You are able to distinguish problems that require task parallelism versus data parallelism.
  • Experience building modular, scalable, and easy-to-maintain front-end applications that are designed for efficient deployment and management
  • Experience working with remote data via REST and JSON, including JSONRPC over Websockets
  • You have a track record of setting the technical and organizational direction for web development teams
  • Solid understanding of the full web development life cycle
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects within a team
  • Preferable:
    • Experience working with video streaming and IoT devices / connectivity over BLE or Wifi
    • Experience working on mission-critical software with stringent performance and reliability requirements.
    • Experience with CI/CD pipelines for web applications.
    • Knowledge of security best practices for web applications.
    • Familiarity with cloud services and backend integration (e.g., AWS, Firebase).
    • Contributions to open-source projects or a strong portfolio of launched web apps.
    • Knowledge of WebRTC
    • Experience with mapping systems such as Google Maps
    • Experience with web game engines, realtime graphics or WebGL
    • Experience with native platform integration technologies such as Progressive Web Apps (PWA) and Electron
