Away is seeking an Email and Retention Marketing Lead to oversee email and other retention tactics (referral, VIP / loyalty, gifting, etc.) to increase customer lifetime value. You will work closely with our VP, Growth Marketing and E-Commerce. The right candidate is excited to be an early employee at a new venture-backed consumer brand and is eager to take on an array of responsibilities. This position is based out of our headquarters in NoHo, New York City.


What you'll do:

  • Develop and execute a multi-pronged strategy to increase Away’s customer lifetime value as the company significantly grows its product assortment
  • Conduct cohort analyses across a wide variety of KPIs to evaluate the impact of past marketing initiatives and inform future optimizations to marketing strategy
  • Work with the data, customer insights, and acquisition marketing teams to develop a better understanding of the Away customer and develop strategies and content accordingly
  • Lead the day-to-day execution, development, design, and deployment of our transactional, promotional, and triggered email programs
  • Co-lead a re-platform of Away’s ESP and segmentation stack with our digital product manager
  • Create a framework for measuring success across all retention tactics and channels
  • Grow and develop a world-class retention marketing team

Who you are:

  • You have 5+ years of experience in CRM, email marketing, lifecycle marketing, and/or customer analytics. Prior startup or e-commerce experience highly preferred
  • You are familiar with data manipulation and visualization in tools like Excel, Looker, Tableau, etc.
  • You can translate data and trends in customer behavior into actionable insights
  • You have deep experience with ESPs such as SendGrid, Klaviyo, Bronto, ExactTarget, and tools like Litmus or Return Path. Prior experience with Simon Data preferred.
  • You have intermediate HTML / CSS knowledge
  • You have a solid understanding of digital UX principles and a strong grasp of e-commerce storytelling and copywriting
  • You have an eye for detail and process, ensuring emails are deployed perfectly for every batched or automated email send
