We're looking for a PR Director to lead strategy and execution of media relations at Away. The right person is creative, organized, ambitious, and excited to manage a small internal team and external agency. This role is based in our Soho, NYC office and reports to the co-founder and CEO.


Some of what you’ll do:

  • Develop comprehensive PR campaigns to support new product launches, experiential programs, seasonal promotions, and brand partnerships as well as evergreen stories
  • Work closely with Brand Marketing team to increase awareness around brand activations and ideate marketing initiatives that align with pr goals
  • Cultivate close relationships with journalists and editors across travel, fashion, lifestyle, and business media
  • Stay on top of trends and story lines that we can opportunistically become a part of
  • Identify emerging PR opportunities, including areas such as executive thought leadership amd product placement
  • Own the development of a comprehensive Comms library, including media documents, FAQs, talking points, and press releases
  • Drive short- and long-term strategic positioning of Away in the media


Who you are:

  • You have 8-10 years experience in a series of PR roles—bonus points for brand-side and/or early stage company experience
  • You have deep knowledge of national, top-tier press cycles and existing relationships with editors and journalists  
  • Your communication skills are unrivaled, and you know how to make people listen and understand
  • You have extraordinary writing and editing skills
  • You’re an excellent planner who can both develop a vision and execute on it
  • You’re a leader who will thoughtfully develop and mentor a team
  • You love to travel (but that's a given)
