Digital Communications Manager

Alumni Venture Group is a fast-growing organization that builds and manages alumni venture capital funds. Our corporate headquarters, located in Manchester, NH, provides back-office office support and other resources to our funds across the country. On an annual basis, these funds raise money from alumni to invest in the ventures of fellow alumni. We have nine alumni funds, with plans to grow to 20 over the coming years. We are private, for profit, and not part of any school.

We’re seeking an experienced communications professional who is a talented writer, digital and social media producer, and newsletter writer. You will be responsible for producing a wide variety of marketing and communications materials, as well as helping shape our growing digital media presence.

You should have experience writing business newsletters, marketing emails, thought leader blogs, and other forms of digital media—for a sophisticated audience. You will also drive the social media publishing efforts for funds, creating content and engaging followers on Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook. Experience across a diversity of design programs, tools, and formats (both digital and print) is highly desired. Beyond your technical skills, you will need to be a quick learner; able to work independently and efficiently; demonstrate a professional work ethic; and continually juggle many projects while delivering on time, budget, and to quality standard.

This is a full-time position located in our Manchester, NH, office with little to no travel required and generous comp and benefits. You will work with an incredibly talented group of individuals in a highly collaborative environment, and report to our EVP of Communications and collaborate closely with our Director of Communications. Basic Qualifications

  • College degree required, preferably with a degree in journalism or advertising
  • Experience in communicating with/publishing for a sophisticated audience
  • Our ideal candidate has 2-3 years of experience in a similar role in communications or content creation
  • Adept at managing a wide variety of projects and communications across different platforms

Requirements

  • Outstanding writer and communicator; engaging, intelligent, articulate writer and sensitive listener, with rock-solid spelling and grammar
  • Knowledgeable about digital media platforms, tools, trends, techniques, with experience in publishing and managing long-term brand-building campaigns
  • Experienced at gathering, analyzing, and reporting performance metrics and suggesting improvements to better engage readership
  • Highly organized, excellent planner, and highly productive executor with great work ethic
  • Good researcher, able to find both information and resources and present clearly and concisely
  • Good at getting both the big picture and attending to critical details
  • Great team player and solo project manager, able to manage both internal and external collaborators
  • Proactive, problem solver, flexible and adaptable, fast learner
  • Readily able to adapt style to audience, platform, mission, and team preference
  • Flexible team player who is willing and able to help get the job done and grow as the job and company needs
  • Experienced in Adobe products and all Microsoft Word products

Desirable

  • Familiar with HubSpot, including design and layout of newsletters
  • Experienced in using WordPress
  • Demonstrable talent in graphic design and layout
  • Experience designing a variety of materials
  • Familiarity with financial industry, alumni spheres
  • Other areas of communication expertise such as photography, podcasting, video, webinars

Responsibilities

  • Understand and implement our goals, audiences, voice, brand across a variety of collateral and platforms
  • Help draft and update publication calendar and meet tight deadlines, coordinating with other team members as needed
  • Interview Alumni Venture Group team regarding new content, goals, timelines and suggest ideas for content
  • Research, write, edit, proof, design, layout marketing and communication pieces (newsletters, emails, social media, etc.), generating highly professional and engaging collateral for a sophisticated audience
  • Help ensure a general brand consistency and voice
  • Assist in managing and organizing brand and design assets
  • Help analyze performance of communications over the short and long term and suggest ways to improve metrics
  • Source and/or prep photos and graphic elements
  • Help design and source misc. materials: banners, signage, giveaways
  • Assist in the organization and QC for a variety of additional communications platforms (i.e., podcasts, etc.)
