Email Marketing Operations Lead

Alumni Ventures Group is hiring for an Email Marketing Operations leader who will coordinate and optimize our email and SMS marketing operations.

AVG provides accredited investors with a smart, simple way to own a high-quality, actively managed venture portfolio.  Today, we serve roughly 4,000 investors, hundreds of startups, and a community of over 500,000 stakeholders across the country.  Our corporate headquarters in Manchester, NH provides support and resources to our fund teams in Boston, New York, Chicago, and San Francisco. 


Today, AVG delivers a direct-to-client approach to thousands of accredited individual investors.  Our product is simple: actively managed VC portfolios. These portfolios are diversified across stage, sector, geography, and primarily co-invested with established VC firms across the country. The email specialist will be responsible for coordinating email and SMS marketing campaigns and for monitoring and analyzing key metrics related to the success of those initiatives.  

This position will report into the Office of the CEO at AVG, directly to the Chief of Staff, and will work closely with the CEO as well as across functional areas including Communications, Marketing, Advertising and Technology. The role is based in AVG’s Manchester, NH headquarters.

  • Consistently high rate of email deliverability
  • Improved lead capture and conversion metrics
  • Reporting and analytics methodologies in place and used towards continuous improvement


  • Develop a deep understanding of AVG’s segmented customer lists and manage and monitor email campaigns accordingly to ensure maximum deliverability and engagement
  • Coordinate and optimize AVG’s direct-to-consumer email and text message marketing operations
  • Develop a playbook of email marketing operations processes and best practices
  • Plan and manage the email traffic calendar and facilitate email sends
  • Build out the text message opt-in program and manage text message campaigns and sends
  • Monitor campaign performance and provide regular updates to the business, along with recommendations for improvement
  • Create tests plans, build and conduct testing and analyze results to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Collaborate with AVG’s Technology team to develop effective reporting, analytics and dashboards for use by AVG business units
  • Monitor and manage sender score and inbox capital
  • Communicate with AVG’s Technology team on related certifications and to request support for blacklist monitoring, SPAM responses and other support needs
  • Create and place tracking links and monitor and manage unengaged contact list
  • Collaborate with the business to develop and manage email marketing lists
  • Develop messaging for AVG’s Venture Club and additional platforms as requested



  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Digital Marketing, Marketing Technology, Communications or a related field required 


  • 7+ years of email operations experience in a B2C environment
  • Email deliverability and domain reputation management experience required
  • Experience with CRM, customer segmentation, dynamic content and email measurement 
  • Prior experience working with financial products and/or direct experience with a high-growth startup desirable


  • Analytical skills to support testing, planning and reporting on email deliverability and campaign effectiveness
  • Can manage multiple, high-priority projects working with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Microsoft Word, Google Suite, HubSpot
  • Email template design skills desirable


  • Strong working knowledge of email marketing strategies, best practices and technology
  • Organized and capable of managing multiple priorities and requests in a deadline-driven environment
  • The ability to communicate clearly and effectively with multiple stakeholder groups across an organization
  • Excellent work ethic and professional demeanor
  • Positive, can-do attitude, with a drive to problem-solve and execute
  • Able to take direction and act autonomously but willing to seek clarification and question when appropriate
  • Capable of building relationships at all levels, across the organization
