AVG is seeking a Vice President of Data Analytics with exceptional vision, skills and experience in business analytics to strategize, build and lead our data and analytics infrastructure.

AVG provides accredited investors with a smart, simple way to own a high-quality, actively managed venture portfolio.  Today, we serve roughly 4,000 investors, hundreds of startups, and a community of over 500,000 stakeholders across the country.  Our corporate headquarters in Manchester, NH provides support and resources to our fund teams in Boston, New York, Chicago, and San Francisco. 


Today, AVG delivers a direct-to-client approach to thousands of accredited individual investors.  Our product is simple: actively managed VC portfolios. These portfolios are diversified across stage, sector, geography, and primarily co-invested with established VC firms across the country. The successful VP of Data Analytics will lead the development of the information and analytics function at AVG and build effective systems and tools to deliver data, reporting and dashboards that lead to improved decision making across all functional areas.

Reporting into the Office of the CEO, directly to the Chief of Staff, the VP of Data Analytics will work across the company and closely with AVG’s executive team and senior leadership on a daily basis. This role (as most are currently at AVG) is likely to be remote to start, depending on the public health situation. In the future, we expect this position can be based out of one of AVG’s offices in Boston, New York, Chicago or San Francisco and will require some travel to our Manchester, NH headquarters and other offices in as required to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.

  • Data and analytics strategy and roadmap established in support of business vision

  • Develop a strong understanding of AVG’s business model and goals and identify the information critical to making informed, data-driven decisions to progress those goals
  • Support AVG’s culture of continuous improvement and innovation by providing expertise on cutting edge analytical tools and processes, data visualization approaches and predictive analytics methodologies
  • Identify and recommend solutions for complex business questions using advanced analytics capabilities to accelerate and enhance business performance
  • Build & deploy response models leveraging analytical techniques such as linear/logistic regression models
  • Build and execute on the processes, tools and reporting for data capture and analysis to deliver critical and timely information
  • Evaluate & deploy new tools, techniques & technologies to advance analytical capabilities and provide recommendations for technology to enhance and scale data analytics abilities
  • Build effective working relationships with key stakeholders across the organization to understand and respond to the data needs of various functions, including; marketing and advertising, fundraising, investing, finance, technology and human resources
  • Synthesize and translate data to inform and elevate decision making across the company
  • Apply data insights to identify and present recommendations on improved data capture and analysis related to:
    • Customers and prospects
    • Communications, email marketing (inbox capital)
    • Marketing and advertising effectiveness
    • Deal-sourcing and investing processes
    • AVG’s network and expertise 



  • Master’s Degree in a quantitative field such as Applied Analytics, Mathematics, Computer/Data Science, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Data Science or a related field of study is preferred
  • Relevant BS degree and data analytics certification with appropriate professional experience considered


  • 10+ years of business-based analytics, preferably in a B2C setting
  • Familiarity with financial and investment products
  • Experience in a high-growth, startup environment and demonstrated success developing a function or practice area from scratch
  • Change management experience specific to new product development, project management and workflow enhancements
  • Demonstrable experience building relationships influencing and working with executive and senior leadership teams


  • Deep understanding and expertise of statistical and advanced analytical principles and modeling
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with the ability to aggregate complex processes and extensive supporting data-points into clear, executable recommendations
  • Skilled at summarizing and identifying critical information and translating it for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Able to communicate and simplify complex concepts; understand and empathize with multiple, often opposing views
  • Leadership capabilities relevant to working effectively in a cross-functional role and building new frameworks, processes and best practices


  • Visionary and forward thinking with the ability to influence and effectively drive organizational change and continuous innovation
  • Ability to identify areas for process and systems innovation and implement change that will enhance the overall effectiveness of the team.
  • Early adopter of innovative technologies and their application in an operating environment
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Self-starter with the ability to work autonomously with little support
