As the VP of Creative and Communications, you’ll be the chief creative visionary! Managing a team of content marketers, designers and external communications/PR specialists, you’ll marry strategy and insights with the creative expression of the brand. As a leader, you’re pragmatic in execution but an idealist at heart. Reporting to and working directly with our CMO, you’ll help prepare the team for its next phase of growth.


Develop and communicate an inspiring, business-centric vision and narrative

  • Deeply immerse yourself in company goals and business needs. Effectively translate business needs to a functional plan.
  • Build a proactive narrative for the brand through external communication and earned media.
  • Work closely with cross-functional leaders to ensure the creative team is supporting Product and Sales teams, as well as the overall company goals.

Bring our marketing campaigns to life by being the voice of the customer

  • Be the authority on all external communication, creative/design, and brand, at executive-level and company-wide.
  • Advance the discussion of our creative vision at the executive level.
  • Ensure that creative works in lockstep with our Customer Marketing and Growth Marketing teams.
  • Anchor the team’s work in user-centricity and functional design.
  • Supervise all written and visual communication, ensuring that it is consistent, accurate, and compelling. Empower other business areas to effectively implement our brand expression.
  • Tell the brand narrative from the point of view of our customers – whether that customer is an agency, a developer or a merchant.

Develop and implement the global communications strategy across media relations and executive communications

  • Drive awareness of WooCommerce’s value proposition.
  • Achieve global brand awareness through earned media, public relations and owned media channels.
  • Cultivate thought leadership content (i.e. research, surveys, and analyst reports) in support of marketing campaigns.
  • Develop executive profiles, a spokesperson bench, and build a platform to promote these leaders.
  • Partner with Customer Advocacy to apply customer insights.

Build a world-class team

  • Communicate a vision for the team and product that attracts and engages great talent.
  • Build systems and processes that enable the team to navigate both company and individual professional growth, while maintaining a strong team culture.
  • Set bold but achievable goals, cultivate a sense of urgency, and encourage high standards.
  • Be organizationally savvy. Collaborate and drive alignment cross-functionally.


  • Have 10+ years experience in a creative or design team at scale in a technology product, with 5+ years experience in creative leadership roles.
  • Are an inspirational catalyst who thrives on transforming brands.
  • Have experience with fast-growing organizations and teams.
  • Can demonstrate excellent writing skills and the ability to distil sophisticated, technical concepts into concise, bold copy.
  • Are a robust, proactive communicator comfortable with leading multiple priorities.
  • Are experienced in measuring the value of creative output.
  • Have a good working knowledge of digital marketing concepts, channels, strategies, and related data outputs (including web analytics).
  • Are familiar with Design Thinking and/or behavioral economics as applied to creative.
  • Have a bias toward collaboration! Your excitement to share your expertise with the team shows up in attention, diligence, and communication.
