We’re excited to be adding an Embedded Firmware Engineer to our growing team! This is an engaging and challenging opportunity that plays an intricate role in shaping the development of our upcoming August and Yale products. We are looking for a passionate Embedded Firmware Engineer who wants to live on the edge of technologies that bring software and hardware together, within the connected home.

This position will report directly to the Lead Systems Engineer. We are seeking an Embedded Firmware Engineer to support our efforts in building world-class mobile solutions for our direct-to-consumer products, as well as our business partners. This role can be fully remote but prefer candidates in the New England vicinity.

WHAT YOUR DAY LOOKS LIKE

  • As an embedded software/firmware developer you will be working on next-generation Smart Digital door Lock products developing embedded firmware applications in BLE, Thread, WiFi, and other smart home network technologies
  • You will work with internal and/or contract firmware developers and system engineers involved in design and system architecture discussions, hardware analysis, and application design
  • Programming and debugging the code, writing automated test scripts on features developed/integrated, working with co-developers in code review, code optimization, power management, etc
  • Collaborate with the hardware team during design, development, and integration
  • High involvement with product development engineers and contractors in System engineering and technical deliverables
  • Participate in code review process, unit testing, feature integration work, and assist team workers with best coding techniques in building best embedded firmware applications

WHAT BRINGS SUCCESS TO THIS ROLE

  • Strong embedded systems knowledge, hardware specialization, application interface, and BLE / WiFi
  • Proficient with C, C++, Python, RTOS, Linux, Linux Kernel, ARM, Git, and Gerrit
  • Experience in design, development, and testing of complex, multi-threaded embedded IoT applications, and communication protocols via I2c, SPI, UART, and others
  • Specializing in optimizations for code size, execution speed, memory usage, task scheduler and interrupt controlling, exception handling, and power management
  • Algorithm implementation and integration skills, domain-specific security and encryption implementation writing automated tests build generation and version controlling

REQUIREMENTS

  • 3+ years of professional experience working on embedded systems.
  • BS or MS in Computer Engineering, Electronics and Communications Engineering
  • Strong familiarity with C, C++, Python, RTOS, and Linux
  • Familiarity with algorithm implementation and integration skills, domain specific security and encryption implementation, and design, development, and testing of complex, multi-threaded embedded IoT applications
  • Knowledge of schematics, PCB layouts, and electronics manufacturing
