You will be responsible for delivering QA/QC and Testing & Inspection services designed to ensure the seamless integration of critical components throughout the construction lifecycle. This includes thorough inspections to ensure compliance with building codes, project specifications, and regulations, as well as oversight of the installation of building systems to optimize functionality and efficiency. You will work meticulously with the team to ensure the accuracy of all special inspection-related forms and correct endorsement of the submitted Technical Responsibility (TR) forms for NYC DOB review and approval.

Project Initiation:

  • Define Project Objectives: Clearly articulate project objectives related to quality, specifying standards and client requirements.
  • Establish Quality Metrics: Identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure and monitor quality throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Create a Quality Management Plan: Develop a comprehensive plan outlining roles, responsibilities, processes, and tools for quality management.

Team Formation and Training:

  • Assemble a Quality Team: Form a dedicated quality team with representatives from various project disciplines.
  • Conduct Training: Provide training sessions to the project team on quality standards, processes, and tools to ensure a common understanding and commitment to quality.

Quality Planning:

  • Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks to quality and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Quality Assurance Plan: Create a plan specifying how quality will be assured throughout the project.
  • Quality Control Plan: Develop a plan outlining processes for monitoring and controlling quality during project execution.

Implementation:

  • Adherence to Standards: Ensure that all project activities comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and client requirements.
  • Continuous Monitoring: Implement a system for continuous monitoring of quality metrics and KPIs.
  • Issue Resolution: Establish a process for identifying and addressing quality issues promptly.
  • Oversee schedule management and tracking 

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Document Control: Implement a robust document control system to manage project documentation related to quality.
  • Reporting: Regularly generate and distribute quality reports to stakeholders, highlighting performance against established metrics.

Auditing and Review:

  • Internal Audits: Conduct regular internal audits to assess adherence to quality processes and identify areas for improvement.
  • External Audits: Engage external auditors periodically to ensure an unbiased evaluation of the project's quality management.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Lessons Learned: Conduct post-project reviews to capture lessons learned and apply them to future projects.
  • Feedback Mechanism: Establish a feedback loop for team members to provide insights and suggestions for improving the quality management process.

Client Involvement:

  • Client Collaboration: Involve the client in quality discussions and seek their input throughout the project.
  • Client Acceptance: Obtain client acceptance at key project milestones to ensure alignment with expectations.

Project Closure:

  • Final Inspection: Conduct a comprehensive final inspection to ensure that all quality requirements have been met.
  • Documentation Archive: Archive all quality-related documentation for future reference and audits.

Qualifications: 

  • 5+ years of managing large construction projects, and overseeing the QA/QC of those projects. 
  • Extensive OSHA and Six Sigma training/certifications preferred
  • The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of local building codes 
  • The ideal candidate will hold a degree in engineering, although a degree in Civil Engineering is preferred
  • A strong preference will be given to a candidate that holds a welding inspection certification through AWS or ICC
  • Although we would prefer to hire a professional who has earned their EIT or PE, it is not required
