  • As a Principal Engineer you will work with our Chief Architect to evolve the architecture and infrastructure of our powerful data pipeline and core analytics platform to support improved quality, scalability, and performance. Atrium is experiencing rapid growth and this is a unique opportunity to get in on the ground floor. Our platform collects and transforms tons of enterprise data into actionable, data driven product insights. We need help tackling the problem of architecting and implementing our platform to meet the demands of this rapid business growth, while improving quality, performance and developer efficiency. 
  • You will be primarily responsible for:
    • Refactoring / re-architecting the current SQL engine data pipeline to be testable, scalable, extensible and performant. 
    • Designing and building efficient, reliable, and clean internal APIs
    • Thinking strategically to improve testing the data pipeline, help define best practices, and drive culture of exceptional testing.
    • Driving technical excellence by leading through example, advocating best practices, and mentoring team members. 
    • Supporting production bug troubleshooting and bug fixing. 
    • Introduce new technologies and internal tools to help us build features faster, improve quality, and scale.
  • You’ll need these experiences to succeed at this job
    • 12+ Years experience working as a software engineer,  software architect, or equivalent. 
    • Experience building and optimizing scalable, fault tolerant data pipelines in cloud environments.
    • Proficiency in data modeling and relational databases
    • Knowledge of cloud-based architectures, deployment and operational and strategic aspects of cost and performance. 
    • Ability to operate efficiently and effectively in an early stage, Agile environment
    • Expert knowledge of Java, at least one major relational DB (Oracle, SQLServer, MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc).
  • While none of these are required for the role, you’ll be able to own even more if you can do some of these things well (or are effective at learning them!)
    • Experience implementing Microservices architecture and Cloud environments
    • Strong development experience with messaging architectures like Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc
    • You’ve worked with cloud data warehouses technologies such as Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery.
    • Data product management - Investigate inefficiencies and identify data product enhancements to incrementally improve our existing product features (from iterating the way we use existing data sources to identifying new data sources)
  • We would be open and excited if you also had these skills or interests
    • Data analytics - Use statistical analysis to identify correlations between user behavior and outcomes
    • Data science - Identify and extract new “ah ha” product insights and features from our large corpus of data 
    • Organizational design - Thoughtfully help us design and evolve our culture and process as we grow
