What you will do:

  • Lead mechanical and thermal design
  • Develop a Mechanical Engineering Handbook to provide structure and guidance to the engineering team
  • Implement sound ME principles throughout the NPI/NPD process across the team
  • Improve tools, design methods, and prototyping early in the design to de-risk technical challenges and accelerate time-to-market
  • Lead multiple product development projects using a Stage/Gate process
  • Be the final design approver for all mechanical components designed by Atom Power
  • Challenge the team to excel in mechanical design and qualification using sound engineering principles
  • Tie design decisions to cost/schedule/performance tradeoffs in the context of requirements and market opportunities
  • Grow subject matter expertise in all mechanical engineering disciplines important to Atom Power
  • Collaborate with other leaders to ensure product and company success
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 10+ years experience in new product development (we design safety-critical electro-mechanical products for EV charging)
  • 5+ years of leadership experience
  • Expertise designing with 3D solid modeling software (we use Solidworks)
  • Experience developing products for high-volume production
  • Expertise designing with aluminum, sheet metal, and plastics
  • Proficient in FEA simulations and analysis (we use Solidworks)
  • Proficient in thermal simulations and analysis (we use Solidworks)
  • Proficient in electronics packaging
  • Proficient in compliance regulations (we work with UL)
