This role will assist in laying the foundation for the the planning, management and execution of all accounting operational functions across Atomic's entities, including its investment management and brokerage operations. Possess a solid knowledge of US GAAP principles and financial operations. You will be responsible for the corporate accounting, tax, risk management and treasury areas while supporting regulatory processes, external reporting, consolidations, technical accounting, tax strategies, risk management and accounting technology enhancements.  

The role will require a hands-on leader that is responsible for these key accounting functions who can also think strategically in building to expand this function along with scaling of the firm. This role will also help to develop the reporting mechanisms to track key performance metrics for planning and analysis.

Once here you will

  • Plan, direct and execute all regular accounting operational functions including month-end accounting, reconciliation, financial statement reports for internal and external use
  • Transition the move of outsourced accounting responsibilities in-house
  • Manage the accounting of individual entities and consolidation of group financial data for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results
  • Manage invoicing, accounts receivables and accounts payables
  • Serve as a Series 27 Financial and Operations Principal 
  • Facilitate payroll processing and administration, including registering and maintaining good financial standing with various state-level agencies
  • Prepare regulatory filings and audited financials including the preparation and submission of FOCUS reports and supplemental filings
  • Preparation of regular Net Capital Computation, including haircuts on securities
  • Direct and coordinate the annual audit and periodic reviews
  • Provide management with financial information vital to the decision-making process
  • Spearhead the regular budget process and regularly track budget vs actuals variances
  • Assess current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes
  • Evaluate accounting and internal control systems
  • Help with diligence requests with partner institutions
  • Assist in developing and monitoring business performance metrics and help to establish groundwork for the firm’s FP&A function 
  • Oversee regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance
  • Understand and remain current with applicable federal and state securities laws and regulations, and rules relating to financial and operational responsibility
  • Identify, recommend and implement new processes, procedures and products to improve workflow and efficiency and to oversee or participate in operations
  • Recruit, train, and retain a skilled accounting staff to build out this key function

Qualifications 

  • B.S. in accounting, preferably with a CPA
  • Collaborative attitude with desire to work with a mission-driven team
  • Highly organized with strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • 6+ years in an accounting role with at least 2 years in a FinOP function reporting on regulatory capital requirements
  • Proficiency in working with data and summarizing through statistical and visual approaches
  • Familiarity with cloud-based accounting systems and project management and productivity tools
  • Exude warmth, genuineness, and concern for others

Pay Transparency Notice: Depending on your work location, the target annual salary for this position can range from $140,000 to $190,000 + equity + benefits
